C-47 Maiden
Break in the weather so managed to maiden my Dynam C-47.
3s 2200mah and added 20grams (0.7Oz) in the nose. Couple of up elevator clicks was all that was needed to trim it. Gave it 2 flights back to back and it flew pretty good. Nosed it on the first landing as i came in a little quick and the ground was bumpy but glad to get it back in one piece This is its maiden flight....

Yeh i flew it 3/4 throttle for most of it and 'guestamated' how much i had left in the battery. Did about 8mins and the cells came off at 3.7 so had a little to play with.

Hi all,
I was looking for my first multi-engine plane and luckily there was a sale at my local hobby shop and I couldn't resist. Unfortunately it was the C47, military scheme but I wanted to transform into a civil plane. After removing the paint with acrylic paint thinner I decided not the paint the model but cover it with heat schrinking foil like oracover. After a quick inspection in the workshop I found only white, dark blue and yellow foil and I wondered... Is there a DC-3 with that paint scheme? There is! IcelandIar has one. Also I decided to do the folding landing gear mod, for which the pieces where 3D printed and this is the result. The letters "Icelandair" where cut out from black tape which I will replace with some properly cut decals, the antena must be painted and fitted, the front windows decals need to re-cut,... p.s. There are also some pics from the maiden |

Hi Bosti 1904,
Surprise! Surprise ! I'm doing the same colour change to my Dynam DC3. It's being painted with acrylic paint. Hoping to get her ready for flying when we get some good flying weather. Cheers |

Thanks for all your comments.
I forgot to wright that I also removed the factory set down thrust angle of the motor, because I think it looks more realistic that way and does not effect the flying that much. @CurrentDude: I have searched and searched for a paint scheme that does not include chrome, because I tried to make the chrome look with vinyl and folie and it did not work. So the alternative was this one and it looks nice in opinion. Just a tip. I have cleaned the engine cowls with acrylic paint thinner from the inside and then I also painted them only on the inside. This means that you don't have to worry about the finish because it will look like the original (shiny plastic) and if you damage the cowls the paint will not be affected. Same principle as in the RC cars where the body are painted from the inside Bostjan |

That is a very nice job Bostjan. The model flies so well too they'll be a heap of enjoyment from it.
Did you 3D print the retracting gear from Thingiverse? https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:14149 Also mod for steerable tail wheel if anyone interested https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:14148 |
