Lamentably, I am in very bad shape. I went "nuts" back in 2003-2004 and kept on buying kits, mostly GWS, but several others as well (eFlite, Sig, World Models, Nitroplanes, etc.). I currently have 7 in flying condition and 47 NIB awaiting my attention. It's a disease I tell you! I need a 12-step program - stat!

Yeah, you are chronic. I have to admit I bought a couple of kits that I now regret. I could sell them, but not sure if it is worth the trouble to get rid of them or put them together. Your GWS kits might be collectors items by now.

The only two unbuilt kits out of the 47 I have that I am not excited about are both GWS Skytrains - before Dynam came out with their DC-3 (which I have). All of the remaining kits WILL get built! However, storage at the moment IS a problem!

Weather was just perfect here today, gentle breeze and a balmy 5C temp saw me get the Dakota out for the first time since I can't remember when.

Someone has mowed our field and left deep tread marks everywhere, so getting her into the air was a bit of a challenge and I couldn't find anywhere to make those long take-off runs with a gentle departure.

I was left with a full throttle charge and pull up quickly, which she definitely doesn't like. First such departure ended in a ground loop, but the new MAs props and drivers weren't damaged like the standard ones and some scuffed paintwork was all the damage.

Second attempt and much better, keeping her low off the deck, the climb out was much better. However, after a couple of passes a tight turn at the end of the down-wind cross wind leg nearly resulted in a spin, with recovery being a lot of stick twiddling and a very un plane like movement.

She had been trimmed before being mothballed last year and there were no changes needed and I had two very pleasant flights after this of 8 minutes each. This took 1200mahs out of both 2200 batteries, so very pleased, despite the cold and the freshening conditions.

I'm going to check the travel and control throws on all the control surfaces on the ground, as I think the elevator is sticking, which I suspect might have been the cause of the strange behaviour on the turn onto finals.

Handled gently and in scale manner, this is gentle fun at it's best. Looks good from all angles.

Shame there was no one else around to enjoy or take photographs, they missed a good session.

More like this please.

Flying, crashing, (re)building
Wow 8 minutes is not bad... I have 2200 packs as well but my last flight I took the cells down to 3.8v in like 4.5 minutes . Either I have very bad throttle management (possibly true, I tend to err on the side of caution until I get a good feel for a plane) or my setup is just too inefficient. Are you running 3 blade props on yours?

I wanted to fly my skybus yesterday but sadly the field I use was in the midst of being mowed - the guy driving the tractor had just started and unfortunately in Australia you need to be up and on the field _at dawn_ (which I wasn't, sadly) to avoid all of the unwanted field visitors. Today the weather is AWESOME. No wind, not even a bee's fart of wind, so I got up at 6 am and hit the local parks with my micros to warm up and then onto the main field, but sadly it was in use but another group. So no skybus flights - all charged up and nowhere to go .

I had even removed the antenna on the top of the fuselage on the skybus so I could mount my HK 'wing' camera (the keychain style one). I think this plane will make a brilliant platform for aerial photography/film due to the fact its a twin and its so damn stable in the air.

P-51 flyby, I love Skybus videos! Great job on the transformation of your plane. I guess this was shot a while ago, but it's so nice to sit on a cold winter Sunday afternoon and watch some warm-weather RCing.

Thanks, Yeah it was shot in one of the last decent flying days in Sep. Since then life, work and weather have kept me from flying on doing much on anything.

Hello folks,

Anybody know of any State side hobby store that has the "Kit" in stock? Nitroplanes is out.

I've had a ton of fun with my Flyzone Beaver, I would like to make a XC-47 Amphibious Float plane.

WVrailfan, did you decide on doing one as well?

I have floats on a HZ super Cub, floats for my Flyzone Beaver and a Dynam PBY, so I don't think I'll go through the work needed to make this a float plane.

I have one of these still in the box, I am thinking it may get built as the first plane to the South pole.

Really, only the Steerable Tail Wheel mod is desirable. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...postcount=1279

I did the Flap mod to mine but have not really had to use it.

When you maiden, make sure she gets some good speed up before letting her take off otherwise it will tipstall into the ground (trust me).
