"they show the cg being from the back intake holes
on top to the front of those little vert fins, i have a 15 c 2200 3s
and I put it behind the nose wheel and the cg is at the extreme rear line.
they say the lipo is 150 grams, I have a 3s 2650 30c coming which is 240 grams so we shall see"

.according to him, it seems like at the orange line in the photo to me

65mm back from the leading edge of the wing at the fuse. Which is just a little further back than foamcrazee pic shows but not much. The CG location is shown on the instruction sheet. Seems a little nose heavy at this location though

I have just finished building my F-18 and I also am having a problem with the CG (nose heavy). What can I do to shift the weight towards the rear of the plane? My lipo is already as far back in the battery tray as it can go.

This CG problem is the only thing holding me back from maidening her.

Jammo,

What size battery are you using, and where is the cg with it as far back as it will go? I mistakenly maidened mine very nose-heavy, with the cg at about 40mm, and it still flew ok. Make sure you've got a bit of up-elevator trimmed in for launch.

I'm using a 3S 1300mah battery. I think I may have mounted the battery in the wrong place. There are two compartments. One compartment is in the nose of the plane and the larger compartment is behind the nose wheel and servo. I have placed my battery in the nose compartment and my receiver behind the nose wheel. I think I may need to swap the location of the receiver and lipo.

I have placed red lines where my CG is.

Try moving the speed controler to behind the motor and fan like on HET planes, I'm using the freewing clone version from Hobbyking makes 2LBs of thrust plus its a little heavier than a normal 4000+kv innrunner with a 2.3 shaft. You never want to add weight in a DF in my opinion.

That's a good idea. I had not thought about moving the esc.

Jammo,

My receiver is in the front compartment (nose cone) and my battery is in the rear one. Switch yours around and you'll be able to achieve the cg you're looking for.
