is it just me, or is this "new" funjet simply a different foam with a CF spar, a different motor mount, and a factory brushless power system?

Wings are slightly different, wingspan is a few mm less, but yes, that's about it. I wish Multiplex would put some effort towards creating a great FPV plane.

Cheers,

Sander.

Questionable judgement

The metal motor mount is a nice addition. I always end up melting and warping the platic ones.

Ya this thing doesn't really excite me that much.
More forward sweep will make it even more sensitive to CG.
Less span makes for higher wing loading, and higher stall speed.
Denser foam may also be more brittle than classic Elapor.
Silver colored foam might as well be invisible against grey clouds, and it makes a
horrible base for flouro paint (discovered that on my silver winged EZ*)
Regular Funjet is more than quick enough for FPV.

Coincidentally, just 10 minutes ago, the mailman dropped off my new
Skyartec Funjet. They didn't have the RTF version in stock, and I didn't
need their motor and servos anyway, so I simply bought all the individual replacement
parts to make one (fuse/hatch/canopy/wings/fins/motor mount) for considerably less $
and shouldn't take but an hour to build. Foam is more dense than Elapor and
probably more brittle. I hadn't realized from photos I've seen of it, how much
larger than the Multiplex Funjet it is. It appears to have quite a lot more
wing area, and a fat lifting body. A massive amount of room under the canopy
for gear. Not sure how I'll mount my pan servo.

You'll love that Funjet Ian. It is a completely different plane to fly compared to the MPX. Much more of a floater. Flies for ages.
Foam is indeed very brittle!
An unfortunately that big area is unfortunately only of any use for VERY light items. I had to carve out a bit of foam at the rear to move teh battery back far enough to balance camera at the front.

I got one of them as well on Shikras recommendation, I set it up so even my Mrs could fly it, will be installing FPV gear this week end so will see what its like under the goggles then.

Reminds me an awful lot of that silly thing they did with the picojet back in the days.
Give it a different decal, slightly reshape it in different foam and voila "Combat" edition.

I think their staff is running out of ideas.

I think they would have done better with a new Twin Jet variant. But this might be cool, all speculation at this point.

Why are they calling it an "EDF" jet? that's a blatent lie.. It's just pusher prop isn't it? or am i missing something?

I guess with the sheer number of Ez*'s and Twin*'s us lot buy, they probably think they already do make FPV models

Id like to see them multiplexize this thing:

A Berkut S37

Sure would be a fresh design for them.

man, that's mean as Fck!

Got my vote.. although they'd probably stick a pusher prop on it and call it a "gas turbine"

Id be pleased with a pusher prop on that thing.
A proper twister style dual EDF would make it even more sexy though.
