Eek! I see RC People!
On my way out to SDM today I stopped by the Farmington field I mentioned earlier. It's fenced on the North, West and South sides, but not the East side. I think it will be a good field for you guys to use. It's a large field, perhaps a little larger than the WSUD field. There's parking, unlike the Kaysville field. As long as you keep your planes out in front of you, the soccer/baseball fields behind you, and stay away from the homes, I don't think you will have any trouble.

4 more flights on the TC today...my first flight was rather interesting, though I wasnt fully aware of why while it was in the air. About halfway through the flight it started to feel sluggish on the rolls. I check to see if I was in high rates...I was in high, but it felt like low!!! A few more minutes went by and I figured I would bring her down...The last carb adjustment didnt work, as she dead sticked on the way down, but made a nice graceful landing in the face of about a 10mph head wind. As I went to go tow her back to the pits, I noticed the right aileron in the full down position...the push rod locking luts worked themselves loose and unthreaded from the clevise. I flew most of that flight with 1 aileron. Pretty frightening to think back to how it COULD have ended. On another note...one more carb adjustment and the last 3 flights had power all the way back to the pits.

Nice flight. Some pylon racers are only made with one aileron. Quite an adventure. Makes you fell good when you get her down fine with some kind of mechanical failure.

Glad to hear it didn't end tragically.

Yeah, guess what just popped up on my preflight check list now. One was okay, it just mellowed everything out. Both could have been BAD.

Nice looking photo's, but when I click on them I get an "invalid attachment" error. Looks like a great time out there.

RC Demo for cub scouts postponed to next month

I just talked to my friend who invited us to do the RC demo this Thursday and he said they decided to postpone the RC demo until next month. He said they were afraid the space derby portion of the program would likely go long and not leave much time for the RC demo. Sooooo, he was thinking of devoting next month's pack meeting entirely to RC. If the weather is good, we can demo outdoor planes; we have tons of options: combat demo, limbo demo, heli demo, parachute drops, candy drops, FPV demo, anything you can think of we can probably do. Of course, this will be the week following the uncivil war, so our combat wings may be pretty beat up from dishing out so much pain to the Rebs. And if the weather is bad, we'll have the gym, so we could do an indoor demo instead.

This will be Thursday, April 22, 2010, at 7:00 pm for anyone who wants to come.

I could rig up the Radian for a candy drop, and or a parachute drop, or combo.

Sounds great, Will. I have a really nice mesh parachute that I got at the dollar store. You're welcome to use it. It works really great, yet doesn't break the bank if it floats off into the neverland. Not to say that that's ever happened to me, of course.

Nate and I are heading over to Barnes right now to see if it's free. If it's being used, we'll try somewhere else.
