What's the color scheme you going with...or is it a surprise? And cowl or no cowl?

What motor?

I am going to go with the Power 32 as recommended with a TB 54 ESC as I have these ready to go. As far as scheme, I have been kicking that around between a pt-19ish scheme or something more inventive. I am going to put balsa around the firewall to give that rounded look that is typically behind radial engines. I'll probably fly it like that to see how it does before modeling a non functional radial engine to hide the power 32.

I usually torment myself over the color schemes. hahahaha

Hi topgun2mo,

You are doing a great job there mate, keep it up, choosing a colour scheme is personal and unique, it's what you want, I'm sure it will be very cool, good luck with the remainder of the build and of course your Maiden flight.
Cheers,

regards Al,

Very pretty, it will be worth the effort. It would be even nicer with a small 4-stroke on the front...

Here's one opition you could have. The plastic is super thin but it looks nice. imsofaman mad it worked on one of his electric autogyros...about the same size.

Radial Engine

I like that. Where is that from?

Found it. It's a Eflite PT17 cowl and dummy radial. Out of stock everywhere!

Your build look so nice in fact that I have started looking sideways at my unstarted Flying Doozy kit - it does look a bit plain with flat sides....

Thanks Pluriel.

As you can see I added some 1/16 balsa from the top of the fuse down to the sides. The pattern you see removed on the bottom was to allow the balsa take on somewhat of a compound curve (wetted with ammonia and water) I still have to add cockpit sheeting (Probably 1/64 or 1/32 ply) but I'll add that when I get a pilot in the seat.

I wonder how these things fly a little heavier than usual? Anybody with that kind of experience?

Hatch Screws

Here I am using a paper tube to provide access to hatch screws. I decided against magnets as in my first post.

Ocd

I am so OCD that I made a jig out of ply to glue the blade shims in place to ensure that they are all placed exactly alike. Copied the head drawing, glued it on ply, drilled the matching blade hole and Voila it's done. In the last pic you can see where I masked the top of the bearing.

Paint!

Put a nice coat of primer and Panzer Grey on all of the head parts.

I am going to do a play off of this fuselage color scheme and do something different on the tail feathers

Words of encouragement?? How about this: I'm impressed... looking real good... can't wait to see it finished... you're making it look easy... AND you are doing it very quickly.
Great job!
