That's looking really good HC!! You are making some nice progress on that, but i guess the LB is sacrificing the time in the drydock for this eh?
It would be pretty neat to have some variable pitch props in there with a full set of thrusters as well!

Question.. what type of filler do you use on your styrene superstructure? any kind specific you would recommend? i have a wood and styrene superstructure i have to strat the finishing work on...

Cheers

Tico I started this tug back in Summer!! I had'nt touched it for about 3 months ( as evidenced by all the dust!! when I cleaned it) Pacific Responder would make a sweet tug!! Consider it for your next project after Varyag's hull is done.

Cheers Bruce
You are right, she could escort Varyag in and out of harbour in true Soviet style!

I'm using Tamiya type filler it seems to be reasonably good. I have discovered that it pays not 2 use it around areas of high flexibility. (like the midships area on LB!! got 2 do some repairs/mods)

Cheers Bruce

P.s. Its not that Lb is missing out it just depends what I decide 2 work on when I open the shed door!!

Did a bit of a temporary paint jobbie on tug with some red oxide auto paint and matt black while the sun was out !! (mostly 2 show up any bits that need sanding) Still needs little bit of sanding on bow bulwarks but rest of the hull is ok.

Originally intended just 2 build a simple "recovery boat"...after a mishap with one of my speed boat's required a swim for retrieval!! As with all things I soon went from a simple boat 2 a scale Tug!!! ( and its taken a lot longer 2 build !)
I rekon I will go with a Dark Blue hull, dark tan/ yellow superstructure, with green deck's.

Cheers Bruce

Yeah,... with this boat, you're now going to have to build a semi submersible
oil rig, and perform a rig move, then an anchor handling demonstration.

yipppeeeee..... prop shafts arrived during the week the dopey delivery person left em on front porch for all 2 see I spotted em when I pulled in from work! I have spent the evening drilling out and filing the holes for shafts and kort nozzles (rudder tubes will be drilled once the korts R glued in) It looks very tough with the big 60mm Korts in place!!
Here R some pix from this evenings activities!!

Next pay I'm going 2 order some Brass Kort props from GT Sitek.
