Help!

# DC/DC converter for fpv

I plan to use a DC/DC converter from tracopower.Do I need to add the mA (milliamps) together of the videotx and camera to figure out the output current of the DC/DC converter.For example videotx=300mA + KX191 camera=160mA would that mean I need a 500mA output current?.My second question is even though the videotx and camera add up to only 460mA,is it o.k. to use a converter with 1000mA output current?If anyone has any experience with tracopower DC/DC converters for fpv please let me know what model you used and how it is connected to the videotx and camera.
 Jan 26, 2010, 04:47 AM FPV Plane & RC Motorcycle Dude It is the voltage you should be concerned about. The output voltage must match the input voltage of the Vid tx and cam. The sum of the current should be less than the rated output current of the converter. So in your example if the Vid tx and cam are say 12v and total current of 460ma and the converter is 12v and 1000ma then you don't have a prob and all is ok. If the current draw was greater than 1000ma then you do have a prob. The devices will only draw what current they need despite the converter as long as it can provide that current. So the converter could be rated for 100A and it won't make a difference! Cheers Ian

Thanks for the reply Ian,the camera and vidtx are both 12v.The specs for the tracopower DC/DC converter are 9-36VDC input voltage,12VDC output,1000mA output current.
