I copied it, didn't write it. Still don't know what you mean about "scan". Are you saying it doesn't show on your screen, or...?

I mean it doesn't scan.

It's a literary term, which, in this case, adequately describes bad poetry which does not fit the format that it seeks to parody. Several of the lines do not have the correct number of syllables, thereby destroying the rhythm of the poem.

Thank you for the explanation. I get it now......................

It's called humor. Poetic license if you will. I truly apologize if miscounted syllables sent your brain crashing against some literary shoals.

If it doesn't scan, it doesn't work. It's fundamental to a parody that it parodies that which it seeks to parody. The more accurate the parody the better. If the writer lacks the wit to make the poem scan it's a bad parody, and bad writing.

Leccy's post caused me to hear the Star wars anthem in the background and visions of golden robots in my head

Sean, I think he's allowing you to fix your homework before his red pen does it for you.

That would be about it

Posting without due care and attention.

A very simple observation that the poem didn't scan -which it doesn't -ought to be self-explanatory.

Again, it was posted as humor. I didn't realize we were getting graded here. I don't understand the concern over it. Must be something in the message, not in the structure.

It's in the structure.

If someone goes to the trouble to attempt to use parody in verse then they should do a proper job of it, not a sloppy job of it.
