Did DOG have a great time at the show LOL Thats awesome and nice report about it
Crazyflyboy welcome over and yes A vid of that would be awesome if you can. Well apparently we weathered the storm over here I did get a call at 6;30 this morning saying our boat was up against the rock wall so It was hook up the trailer to go and get it, Lets just say I was very lucky, a 22 foot pontoon boat with a canvas canopy in 40 mph winds and waves crashing into the shores is not Ideal for this type of boat aqt all, I had basically one shot to hit the trailer and a good 20 minute fight from our property to the boat launch in a torential downpour with whitecaps But God must have been with me as I headed for the trailer the winds took my giant parachute and pushed me sideways inbetween the docks I was able to floor it in reverse and I don't know how but full forward full reverse etc.. etc... for a few times and got her straightend back out, and then like a surfer, caught the wave as she and the wind pushed me forwards towards the trailer I don't even know what I did but the next thing I know I was on the trailer gunned it and got about half way up then it was cranking on the winch with the engine running at full and nobody in the boat to get her all the way on, the hardes part was getting the 500lbs of seaweed out from under the trailer to get it out but the boat is on shore and it looks like our boating season ended early this year our home is just fine, little water coming in the basement so a few towels in strategic locations kept it all under control. we were very lucky, cities and towns all around us are destroyed flooded and without power were not out of it yet as the winds have a ways to go before there over but we think were going to be fine an still have our power as of now thank God. and it sounds like entire state of vVrmont is now its own lake I wish anyone in VT the very best I remember when I use to actually post flight reports LOL Soon enough I say we still fly every weekend This is our boat against the rocks you see the 2 white floats on the dock thats where the boat should be LOL and the other pic is what I had to drive through to get it out |

Welcome CFB
WOW a dle 20 on a 40. What does she weigh. Would love to see some pics. Guy's it was a great day flying. When I left the apartment at 3:30 we had had a quick shower just pass over and the wind was gusting to 24 mph. Now I took my time putting the MX up. I let LT Dan go up 1st with his .50 size MX. His tango had developed a fuel leak and was grounded. But his MX performed very well in the wind. So by 1/4 till 5 I took the MX up. She really performed well and I managed a nice landing but I took off again and tried a 2nd landing like the 1st. No luck I bounced her. By then the wind was really dropping off and a couple of the other guys started flying and another guy I had been training need a little help. I got him up in the air and he was flying around while LT Dan was flying his .50 MX. Now Dan had just landed and turned his plane and was taxing it back when Ed was bringing his plane in. Now Ed's plane had landed 50 ft in front of the MX and they were both on a collision course when Ed pulled elev at the last moment and hopped right over Dan's MX. It was like leap frog. I let Gerry Hinshaw from GMP fly my MX tonight. He'd brought a 40 percent Edge with a 150 3W but he was never able to get it started. it kept wanting to start backwards and it for a 1/2 second. Any ways this is the 2nd weekend in a row he brought it and it wouldn't run so when he ask me if he could fly my MX , I let him but the second he started putting her through her paces I told him you crash it you give me a new one. he laughingly agreed and the when he brought her in he bounced her real hard, I told him thats includes tearing out my undercarraige. Now I'm really getting this inverted flatspin down with her. I'll fly a vertical to about 150 or so cut the throttle as she slows down I'l pull real gently back on the elev stick and then as she starts to fall on her back I'll slame the elev stick to full down while kicking my rudder to the right. She then starts the nicest rotation dropping ever so slowly that it's almost mesmerizing. I have to be really carful. When I come out of it I release the controls add throttle alittle down elev to raise the nose and roll her back. I also did some nice hammer heads. I found that acouple of times I needed to bip the throttle when I kicked the throttle. I've also found that flying along I can chop the throttle hit full up for a wall and when I'm right at the top of the wall and running out of steam I got full down elev while giving the throttle a bip and it will flip the plane right around in a waterfall. If I leave the throttle on to long it won't give it that flip. Anyways once again we flew till dark. |

Don't know how you did it but I'm sure glad you were able to rescue the boat and not end up with your truck/trailer stuck in the water and/or mud. Hope everything dries out quickly once the storm abates. -Mike |

Kerwin, congrats...sounds like you are really enjoying the plane! Had 5 more perfect flights on my Slick Saturday before the wind picked way up. You need to try an Elevator with your MX......just go up high, point it into any wind you may have and give her full up elevator. It should just float right down....my plane does it to the point where I can almost land it, lol. I am trying to do that until it gets at the tree line and than transition to a harrier....tough but I am getting it. Inverted flat spins are fun once you nail them...amazing how slow the plane will float down! Hope this weekend is less windy! |

Kerwin Sweet report I would have loved to see the leap frog game in action LOL and you sound like you are having a freakin blast these days Well deserved.. DOG Awesome video you really did have a good ol time that was a great huckin vid Tek is doing okay I think they just lost power last night though. he's been posting on FB with his phone lol Don't know about Daniel. I think Tek or another friend Ernie went to go get some pics of our airfield and couldn't get down the main road as it was flooded I'm sure Our field is fine as it sits up on the hill we don't have to worry about flooding on the runway. |
