I sell parts on Ebay and Ebid. Pretty much all parts available. Cheapest in the UK. I do tend to run out of them quite quickly.

The weight vs. battery capacity trade-off is the basic engineering question with rc helis of all levels, hobby-grade or toys. Current LiPo technology is the limiting factor. Unlike rc cars, the batteries' weight must be lifted. The gravity force vector is constant and vertical in helis, whereas in rc cars the entirety of that force need not be overcome.
You exactly said it, its the current LiPo technology which is the limiting factor, but lets face it, you would want on a fully charged battery to have about 20 to 30 minutes of fly time on this little Helli, if the battery-technology would allow it of course. 5 min is really short, and so the whole discussion/idea and argument about extending in any way possible the total fly-time on these is 100% valid and logical. So until that LiPo or other battery technology is available, I dont think sitting and waiting while doing nothing is really the way to go: we would be giving up any potential for improvement.

my thoughts were just like that when i got my first heli as i couldn't get enough of it but what you will find over time is that 5 min is more than plenty when you have multiple helis to fly, at that point many times you will even cut the fly time to 4 or less min and move on to the next... and remember the lifetime of these brushed motors is typically shorter than the lipo considerably, i do not know what the actual manuf. rating on them is but per my experience across various models, you will see a decrease in performance on the average at around 100 flights or sooner.

Want heli used electonics
My big intrigue with the S107 is not that it's the ultimate heli. What interests me so much about it is that it's a very cheap platform that does the basics very well, making it an excellent platform to start from.

I've got an idea kicking around my head to provide low-cost repair service, aftermarket electronics and/or mechanical/cosmetic parts.

I'm FAMOUS
Another possibility: he got a used copter with burned out motors.
It's behavior is identical to a (week old) Syma S032, isn't it?

'Both' are not as reliable as the S107. They also won't 'hold-up' in a crash.
At least thats what I'm reading.

If memory serves me correctly. The Cobra canopy is slightly bigger than a syma s107 but some of the parts will still fit. The cobra is basically a clone.

Actually, Amazon doesn't ship to SA.

$30 = 210 South African Rand, BUT since I can't buy a single heli for R210 I have to buy from a shop who bought from an importer - At R500!

To put this in perspective - the minimum wage in South Africa is something like R1200 per month.

Now luckily I earn a lot more than the minimum wage, but that does not change the fact that I have a R500 heli that does not work.
