H9 Power 46 Cub
I've put this build off for 14 months. The boss said no more planes till I build what I already have. So... It's done!
I dumped the Power 46 and swapped it over to a GR 45 from http://www.reaperbrushless.com/ on Scotts recomendation. A little confab with MaxAmps http://www.maxamps.com/categories.php?cat=8 for a pack and we came up with a 14.4/4s/2p/4400mah brick pack. All dragging thru a Motrolfly ESC & UBEC(set to 6v) from Ken at http://www.subsonicplanes.com/. Futaba 3003 thruout and reframed to use dual servos (1 for each elevator half) and converted to a pull-pull rudder. No regrets to-date except for the motor conversion. I finally wound up buying a Great Planes medium size motor mount to get the GR in. Spektrum AR 7000 rcvr.
I have yet to maiden the bird but I finally got some power tests done tonight. The bird is drawing 56 amp/880 watts on a 13 x 6.5 APC. 60 amp/925 watts on a 13 x 8 APC and 60 amp/900 watts on a 13 x 8 wood prop. I would have tested with a 14" but the LHS was lacking anything in that size. I do believe this bird will fly. Now all I need is some decent weather and to get rid of the 'new bird' jitters. Yea baby! I think I'd better get some air time with my TC 450 and my Pilot 1 Stinson again so I don't wind up ground looping this bird. I've about forgotten how to treat a bird like this on take-off.
