2010 ama expo show reports

Post your findings here.

How is the show?
Lots of vendors?
What to look for?

Hoping to find Depron sheets and adhesive.

I just got back from the show. Not too busy today, so it was easy to move around. BananaHobby and Nitro Planes had a lot of jets for sale at a show only discount price. It was nice to see many of the jets in person as they always look a little different than from the online pictures. The show wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be, but was worth the trip out there. FYI, bring cash if you want to buy stuff in the show. Most of the vendors I saw were taking cash only.

Some cool ARF stuff, but the show is definately shrinking, the economy is taking it's toll, the guest speaker thing I think is a really good idea, still worth going to the show though.

Hi guys,

Yep, less vendors for sure. Still pretty decent. I picked up a Habu plug and play for 15% off which I though was pretty good since it is brand new out. The electric retracts over at Eflight were pretty cool too. There will be plenty of sizes available before the year is out.

Best indoor 3D Hellie pilot I've ever seen. Yes he was flying this fast ...
AMA show 004.MOV (1 min 10 sec)
Didn't catch his name he was about 17 yrs old and said he had been flying 10 yrs. I asked how long since his last crash and he looked at his watch and said "about 3 hours". Then he laughed and said "about a month" The darned camera focused on the netting ,,, Oh WELL

That would be Ryan Archer. I'd recognise those markings anywhere..

Also, ask and see if you can step inside the netting to film. I bet Mark would let you..

Will fly for food
A good bit smaller than last year. Some vendors I expected are not there.

I picked up a Phase 3 Squall for $100.

I hope the swap shop is well attended (with people selling ).

That was Nick Maxwell flying the heli and I was the blabbermouth on the PA system. Here's a video I shot of Nick during last year's Expo:

Nick was the only one of the competition heli pilots who showed up Friday. I hope that the Align boys show up today. They put on a pretty good show too.

Disappointed...

I was there today and was kind of disappointed. The exhibit hall was pretty good and the flying was fun to watch. I really missed the seminars though. I didn't catch a lot of the speakers, but I would much rather have sat in and listened to people discussing topics specific to the hobby. How to's and discussions about new technologies and products in the hobby are much more relevant and interesting. Frankly, the interview articles in magazines, where people talk about how they got into the hobby and what they are doing now, are the ones I generally skip over.
