You brought two too many.

The 2650 on 4S should be fine and the 50amp on the 55. You will want to use a BEC or an ESC with a switched BEC.

I am using JR-DS3421 servos, but if I had to buy some for the 55, I'd get Hitec HS-225mgs. Good bang for buck. You could probably get away with HS-85MGs but might get some blowback.

And no doubt if the Dude did RC he'd fly a DW foamy.

When the servo isn't strong enough to hold the control surface. Think of a fast roll and when you let off the sticks it the plane will bounce back. Its kind of like momentary flutter.

'Rubber-band effect', eh??

From what I can see on Mike's site, HS82 is the strongest micro-class (not mini-class) that he offers:

HS82 39oz 12sec 19gr (micro)
HS225 54oz 14sec 27gr (mini)

Obviously, the 255 is far stronger...maybe I missed something on the site?

Not debating here, but just trying to learn planks (having come over from the heli side)...eg, I run 82MG's on my Carbon Yak w/ 45-deg throws going into a blender at 70+mph... and the 82's seem to do the job on ths model...?

Hey Flop I missed this part....

I could get some 2S/2200's in series...and here's the best part: two 2200's combined weight less than a single 4S/2650:

2S/2200 135gr ea
4S/2650 292gr ea

Props to u bud for the great idea....gotta look further into that

SonicElectric 2820-1080 Motor Update!

Ok, so the Juka singing got so loud I had to wear ear protection to fly! I decided to try a motor from HobbyPartz so I ordered a Rocket 2220-1050 to replace the Sonic 2820-1080 (actually it too is a 2220 size). Unfortunately, this was an $18 disappointment. On my bench tester the Sonic would make 52oz of thrust @ 10600RPM on a 3 cell and this new motor would only produce 32oz @ 8600RPM. It also does not accelerate nearly as quickly. Bummer.

So, I cut a new motor shaft for the Sonic out of 4mm drill rod and replaced the stock shaft. Awesome! No more bell wobble and it runs much quieter with all the original power. The problem with the stock shaft is there is a flat cut for the set screw in the bell to lock into and this flat is cut so deep there is not enough shaft to fully support the bell.

Next I'll put a dozen packs through her and see how this fix holds up.

put 8 packs through the 40 Juka today. I enjoy this model more and more each time i fly it. It's one of the cheapest models I own but probably my all around favorite.

So if the 40" is this good, is the 48" even better?

Maybe. I put 3 packs through mine yesterday in some stiff wind and it was still amazing. The roll rate is ballistic which is awesome.

I have a 40 Juka to build up. What batteries are you using and did you have any trouble getting the CG where you wanted it?

i'm using valuehobby gforce 1000 an 1300s. No trouble at all getting CG to balance. It seems very tolerant to CG changes. I'm balanced right at the wing spar.

Imo, absolutely. I started w/ a 40 Juka, loved it, then got a 48" Juka (dymamo power) and loved it even more. Had the landing gear on both.

To me, bigger is definately better and the 48" is the perfect blend of power, size, & performance.

On the 40" Juka
1000mah Blue Lipos, CG is 1/4" (6mm) behind the spar.
