A Day at Temple Hill and droppin by the local

Hi all,

The following pics and commentary are to be used for your enjoyment purposes only...

Saturday, May 10th, around 2pm I headed out to Temple Hill with the good ol 'Filip and XR. Meet 5 others up there, including a fellow Ezoner. lift was a bit light for awhile, until about the time a guy showed up with a nice big and scale L213. His wind meter had the winds at 9-14mph, which later picked up. someone launched for him, which ended up in a long walk for Dave, the owner. Second launch when the wind was up some more was very nice and produced an excellent show for all of us up there! the Filip was movin along nicely, and so did the XR. Getting pics of that L213 was hard with a digital and that thing being so slick and fast! Anyways, headed out to Skandia by the 15 freeway to pick up my sister and her friend, came back home to Chino Hills ans dropped off her friend, who just happened to live right near the local slope...So I decided to see if anyone was flying....To my surprise almost all my local flying buddies were back! As I arrived a John's Mini Acacia was landing and Charlie's Mini Acacia was in the air along with an SR Max? foamie and an Avenger wing.
They had been gonse since the winds died out over winter. Said my hellos, took a pic of Sean's Flamingo, chatted and took off for home...

Overall a wonderful day of slopin adventure...
If the winds are a blowin, we've all gona a slopin...

the L213 speeding by with the 57 freeway in the background...
a 1 megapixel digi cam plus a friggin slick and fast ship makes for some difficult picture taking! But Dave was kind enough to keep making passes and poses for the camera...

Thanks for sharing the pictures Ray. I went back to Temple Hill on Sunday and have a couple good flights with my converted blue foam toy glider. I finally solved the problem with that glider. It had too much flap effect and too light of a wing loading ( at 5 oz/ft2). Took out the flap effect from the ailerons and added 2 oz weight. The wind got even stronger at about 5 pm and my blue glider could not penetrate ( at about 7 oz/ft2 ).
Hope to see you back at Temple Hill.
