Reminds me of the Trek Aerospace 'Dragonfly'.

I haven't seen anything new from their website in a while, but they could probably make some extra money if they tried to market a cheaper version of their 'Oviwun' rc craft. You could just slap on your own design based off of movie props.

One more thing please. Once you guys master this topic, it would be great if somebody will try to build a G.I. Joe 'SkyHawk' using micro-turbines or EDFs.

I love the Vtol section of rc groups.

Very nice and inspiring. video please!
Need to reinforce that duct, it looks fragile in a crash.

forgot the memory card for my cam today, it's stable on the roll/yaw axis, pitch (elevator) is a real problem. I need to add stronger servos and possibly a tailroter if the servos cant stop the oscolation problem

Could you show how you arranged your servos?
Only on the pitch? How about the roll?

I had an idea on this, which may help with the roll stability issue. Someone should try it if possible, I will, but it will be a few weeks before I have the components (my gear is in another state). Try adding some "dihedral" (I realize its not going to be directly dihedral, seeing as how we're using lift fans and not wings here). This should add some roll stability to the machine with less of a need for a gyro. When rolling to the left, for example, the left fan will be closer to horizontal with the ground, which will reduce the amount of roll input present and move the aircraft back towards horizontal.

Didn't have time to work on it but have the motor supports completed so far.

Need to intall the pitch servos and it will be good for some test flights. Primarily tests showed there should be enough thrust

Almost everything is made with Walkera s 5G6 parts and 4G3 BL motors and servos.

The fuselage will be built around the balsa support.

No Avatar Samson or Scorpion flying doohickey thread is complete without mentioning the Vector 450 at least once. Looks like a very reasonable price for such a cutting edge design.

If he is getting up to 18 minutes, we should get at least 8 minutes after all the Avatar looking stuff is thrown on.
The spare motors and ESC's look inexpensive as well.
