for the guys that have been flying around the main metro area, specificly out between druid hills out to stone mountain, and johns creek up north to lanier.

Can anyone say what AV frequency is successful? Im thinking 2.4 and 5.8 is going to be saturated with wifi and cell phones. I was thinking 1.3? Curious how those that have done it have faired.

IMHO 5.8 is the best freq for crowded rf places. 1.3 is great as well but the video quality isn't as good as 5.8. Remember you need a HAM license to operate at these freq.

I really like this approach for an FPV platform. Definitely going to build one of these.

My favorite part of that video was the S### eating grin you had on your face at the end after you landed.....THAT is why I'm interested in FPV.
(well....my grins, not yours)

You must have rocks of steel.....I'm safe at home watching it on YouTube and even MY jaw clentched when the OSD went out......."Holy Crap" indeed.

The next time I fly that LZ I will have a lot more knowledge than last time. There was some powerlines I must of missed by inches that I didn't realize that night for one!

Cool Nova show about Easter Island statues on PBS right now. They are using drones to get better view of the island etc.

Looks like this will be the last FPV vid for a while...my Discovery is on the bottom of Lake Acworth currently due to a dumb mishap today during out small float fly. Assuming it doesnt get rescued in the next couple of days i will be rebuilding again sometime late spring.

Bauerback -

Several of the radio clubs do testing in the area. In the Lawrenceville area check the Gwinnett Amateur Radio Society - gars.org. They will have links to other test sessions. Let me know if you need some help getting started.
