Question

Taiyo Edge Runner availability

I'm trying to track down the Taiyo Edge Runner series of RC vehicles. These were excellent products around 2002-2004 but they seem to be elusive. The best I've been able to fund out is that :
1. There seem to have been two models of the Edge Runner, both good, but now hard to find even on places like Ebay 2nd hand, much less new.
2. The Taiyo company still exists but their site is entirely in Japanese and they don't look interested in being accessible from the U.S.
3. There is no sign of a U.S. distributor - Business Week lists Taiyo Edge in FL but those details seem to be defunct.

These products were outstanding and it's hard to believe they are no longer in business. Does anyone know more history, if there is a U.S. distributor and where I could buy 3-4 of the Edge Runners?

Many thanks!

They were fast, could cover any terrain, were small to carry and could work when flipped. Also very well made, not the usual cheap shortcuts. I'd like to know who is making them if anyone, and how I can get a whole fleet of them (for own use, not to resell).

Anyone... thanks!

I have one of these

Great little thing it is, kids are very sad because one side of it isn't working. It's like the car had a stroke

I have checked the PCB in the controller and all looks fine, tested all diodes etc and all good, plus it lights up on both levers so I am sure the signal is being transmitted. But only one side of the car's wheels turn (right hand controller lever). Before dumping it, I wondered if it's possible to get a different cheap used controller off fleabay, and solder in the crystals (if there is one) from the original controller?
Any ideas about this anyone?
thanks
