I got the motors I ordered from HK, they look to be almost exactly the same size as stock...Might even have the same size bearing that was bad in stock motor, maybe I'll try swapping the bearing and keeping the stock motor in there, I'll have to do some more checking to see if that would work.

Was it the motor you linked in post #733? Is it a drop in fit?

Just in case I need to replace mine one day...

Yes, that is it, it looks like it should drop right in , but I have not had a chance to try it yet,

Check shaft dia with a caliper. If above 3mm (~3.17) the bearings
will not fit (imperial units).

I bought some retracts (the smallest GWS from HK) the day I received my Emil, but haven't installed them because I don't have suitable landing strip in the local 'park' I'm flying the Emil. Otherwise, I'd have gone for it!

I've got a Alfa P-47 with fixed landing gear and one with retracts (not finished).
My experience with the fixed landing gear P-47 is that it's difficult to land without
nosing into the ground with a scale landing gear. I've increasedwheel size but still
problems. As McMoron I got no well suitable landing site either.

In my Spitifre I've replaced the heavy AF400 30gram brushless motor with a
light one (20 gram) with prop saver. So far I've not replaced any prop since
then. I get som dents and bruises but that would happen with a landing
gear too. Add to that the additional weight of the landing gear not to mention
a retract I do not believe this is the way to go (with my pilot skills at least)

Both the Spitfire and Emil have odd retracts of less than 85 degrees. If you did retracts, they'd probably end up looking very non-scale, which would be a shame on such faithfully reproduced models. I don't think the added weight would be well tolerated either. I've been flying mine for a while, and have the original prop still installed. Just lucky, I guess....

3B prop


Hi guys !

Do any of you tried this graupner 3B propeller ? http://www.hobby-lobby.com/8x6_prop_...e_394_prd1.htm

Cause the original is 7x6, this will fit even if we cut it a bit...

What do you think ?

I want a 3-b prop to preserve the scale look

Those Graupner props are big. The stock motor will not be capable of turning it. Maybe the 7X4 would work with a 3S battery. I haven't tried it. Experimenting with different props is much of the fun of flying models.

I would look out for a 7x5 - 7x4 3 blade and rather go for 3S.
More RPM and less pitch better thrust. What You should look
is a (~7000RPM) prop (APC SF) not a high RPM prop like APC E.

Thanks all for your replies, but i've only seen 2-b apc SF and not 3-B ?? can you confirm ?
