I have the clear canopy on mine Soundguy63 but, trying to make it more visible. It kinda disappears on turns on a cloudy day. I added the Turnigy 2836 motor to mine & I had a 80amp ESC laying around. Big difference in speed.

This is a pretty boring vid of testing out my camera, if you fast forward to the end I buzz some ducks

Got one of these as my second plane after flying a Phoenix 2000 glider for a couple of months. Started out with the stock motor which seemed fast enough at the start but went with the suggested Turnigy 2836 upgrade after a few flights. It was fast but must have got a dodgy one because it vibrated like crazy on full throttle and eventually burnt out after 3 or 4 flights. Mind you I had put it into the ground half a dozen times.

It's a great plane to fly and easy to repair. In learning to fly it, I pranged it half a dozen times broken it in half both along and across the fuselage and had both wings ripped off. A bit of CA and a few bamboo skewars and she's ready to go again. It was starting to look a bit ratty so I ordered another airframe and installed another Turnigy 2836. It's a much smoother motor than the original and Im so pleased I even painted it.

I would suggest for anyone planning to use the 2836 is to check the clearance between motor and the base of the mount. It's not much more than the thickness of a piece of paper and my orininal was showing severe rub marks before it burned out. I suspect from the marks that the mount actually bends slightly under full throttle. I have now ground the base down 1 or 2mm and having no problems.

Here's a video of my latest (2nd) flight with the new one. Taken with a couple of those keyring cameras, one on the plane and one on my sunglasses. Hope you enjoy it.

Took my Skyfun out for it's maiden yesterday and it flew great. I had a 1300 3c HK lipo. It was a touch sluggish but I chalk that up to the bigger battery and maybe it was a bit too nose heavy.

THe other thing I notice was that the canopy clips stink and I had to secure it with a piece of CF throught the nose.

All in all I am happy but might like a bit more power.

Also where is the actual COG supposed to be??

CG should be right in the middle of the finger holes.

I had a problem after I installed the 2836. It turned out the prop was out of balance.

I don't know but I can tell you the canopy is optically challenged! <G>

flying or crashing into air?

Hi guys.
Thanks for all the info in this thread , it realy makes it easy to know what to expect from a model before buying.(by page 10 I had placed an order )
Mine should arrive in the next hour or 2 , tracking states "onboard with driver".
Ordered from the Aussie warehouse Sunday night and delivered Wednesday .
I am still new to planes so it will be left stock for the first few flights then I will upgrade to the 2200Kv 2212-6 motor (already had that as I bought it as a spare for my clouds fly)
After I get used to that I have the highly recomended Turnigy2836-2350Kv on order from the international warehouse along with a Turnigy trust 55A esc (I think that will be big enough)
I plan on using Apc 6x4E props on all motors .
There are a few HXT900's in my spares box so they will be fitted if the stock servos are no good

Months ago I crashed my SkyFun on it's maiden.
On my 3rd trimming pass it just dove out of the sky.
Total loss in the trees.
I had a lot of time in it with coloring and 2836, Plush 60 , etc.
That triggered me to submit my DSMX Tx for the recall.
Since then I've gotten a F27c Stryker and love it.

Today I ordered a 2nd SkyFun.
Just wanted to mention to prospective buyers
that I liked the SkyFun THAT much.

Can't wait to compare it to the Stryker.
My Stryker is pulling 58A and 525W.

Does anyone have the programing info for the stock esc ? I want to get rid of that stupid music it plays .
No way will I power up this model at a flying field playing that tune.
I have a turnigy trust card but I dont think that will work with this esc

Gravity sucks.
i dunno about getting rid of it - but you can wiggle the throttle as soon as the music starts and it cancels the rest of the tune.

Thanks guys .I will give the wiggle thing a go until I get a replacement
I have a couple of esc's on order so I should be able to do a bit of swapping around and use a 30A one I am replacing from another model (upgrading it to 40A)
After bench testing the stock motor I decided not to use it and I have fitted the 2200Kv 2212-6 motor so the stock esc will probably be a bit small but it will do for the first test flight or two
