Build Log

Top Soaring Viper

Well...

It just arrived. Overall the finish is amazing. I can't say enough about how well the kit was produced.

I'm planning on starting my build over Christmas break. Stay tuned.

Got a bit done. I'll be running spring-pull on the tails.

More to come soon.

So I decided to put all the electronics in the pod and weight everything together. It's 257g. With the added weight of aileron servo wiring and more glue and pushrods/kevlar thread I would say that 285-290g isn't too far off. I feel pretty good about that considering I'm using DS285's all around.

Aileron servos are installed.

Need to wire up the wing connector, then join.

Thanks.

Sorry for the horrible quality pictures. I need to borrow my parents camera eventually and get some good ones. This camera makes the tape over the servos look absolutely horrid, when it really isn't.

Anyway. Wing side connector is done. Need to solder the other side now.

Wing is joined. Just letting the epoxy on the CF dry.

Next is pushrods on the wing and kevlar thread in the fuse. Then just receiver and battery install and it'll fly. Maiden tomorrow?

I'm starting to get tempted on this one. My TS1 has a creased wing already, no idea how it happened. I'm keeping an eye on it, but I don't expect it to last.

Maybe a tip strike?

Pushrods are installed on wing. Drilling the wing holes and inserting the CF rods. Almost there...

It's finished.

The kit went together very smoothly. No surprises at all.

285g RTF. If I had used lighter servos, was a little more experienced it could have come in under 270g no doubt.

Maiden soon. Right now we have gale force winds.

Well that's even better.

I spent all day trimming it out, and now it flys great. I threw in an elevator preset and that made a world of difference on launch. I'll have to get some updated video.

Thanks for setting up the group buy. I'm very happy with my purchase.
