Question

Heli Swash Ring

Is there a Heli Swash Ring equivalent function in Aurora 9?
Like the one available in T8FG or T12FG.

No, but it's been proposed to be included in a future firmware update.

That is great, Thanks Mike.

It would be worthwhile if you open a thread to welcome suggestions for futher firmware update features.

Hmm...I thought we had one here. I'll add a new topic.

Could someone explain the difference between swash ring and what is swash calibration? Into heavy research mode now. Mostly would be flying helis and my Acromaster.

Swash (Cyclic) Rings limit the swash travel to within a fixed range to prevent damage
when moving the aileron and elevator at the same time.
. Cyclic Rings are hardware fittings suitable for Mode 2 users only.
(DIY, file out the inside of a large round servo horn to suit.)
. Swash Ring is a virtual cyclic ring built into the software, but unlike a cyclic ring,
it works with any Mode not just Mode Two

Cyclic Rings - cut from 3mm acrylic sheet for DX7, 9Chp/AP & JR9X/X2 .
Cyclic Rings - FMP (comercial).

Swash Ring & Swash
is an application, as reviewed and explained for a 12FG.

. Request for a Swash Ring application within the Aurora is already noted
Aurora 9 - Software Wish List Thread, which is regularly communicated to the designers.
12 March 2011: refer post #11 below:
As an interim measure, "Travel limit" or "Ultimate EPA's" which permits programming an absolute servo travel limit."

10Mar 2013 - added:
. Swash / Cyclic Ring is included in the new Aurora 9X as per attached copy ex 2103 catalogue, see FAQ link below.
(not included Aurora 9 as insufficient memory)
. Swashplate types from SWH Swashplate Types to H-4X (the attachments)

Now this thread is exactly one year old. Was the swash ring implemented meanwhile?

Is this really so hard to implement?

here's some pseudo-code to help your engineers a little

x is the position of the stick on the x-axis (ranging from -1 to 1)
y is the position of the stick on the y-axis (ranging from -1 to 1)

Code:
a = sqrt(x˛ + y˛)
if a > 1
 do x = x/a, y = y/a
This shouldn't take another year to implement

Whilst an "On Screen" Electronic cyclic ring has not been provided,
upgrade V1.08 has provided for a "Travel limit" or "Ultimate EPA's" which permits programming
an absolute servo travel limit.
This will prevent the servo from being over driven, refer attached extract from the update manual.

Unfortunately this doesn't have the same effect like a cyclic ring does. The travel limit only limits individual servos, but not the combination of a couple of servos. The purpose of a cyclic ring is to limit the travel of the swash plate, whose travel depends upon the combined movement of several servos.
