MINI profile pusher jets: Mirage 2000, Mirage F1, F-18C ~ 14 in WS

Over thanksgiving break I wanted something to fly over my street so drew up some plans for pusher jet fighters, including a Mirage 2000, Mirage F1 and F-18C. They all have a wingspan of around 14 inches and are made from 3mm depron or similar foam. The propeller slot is 3.2 inches wide to accommodate a GWS 3x2 or 3x3 prop.

I plan to use a mid-mounted Feigao 1208436L or similar inrunner motor with these propellers or to use a tail mounted C10 or similar outrunner with a GWS 4x2.5.

And coming soon: Eurofighter 2000, X-29, F-18E, others

STATS

Mirage 2000

Wingspan: 14 in
Length: 21.5 in
Height: 6.0 in
Prop Slot: 3.2 in
PDF size: 24 x 24 in

The missiles/reinforcement are all optional, however reinforcing the prop slot is recommended

Mirage F1

Wingspan: 14 in
Length: 24.7 in
Height: 6.4 in
Prop Slot: 3.2 in
PDF size: 28 x 20 in

Can also use a tail mounted motor easily

F-18C

Wingspan: 14 in
Length: 21.7 in
Height: 6.4 in
Prop Slot: 3.8 in
PDF size: 24 x 18 in

Wing area is very small (exact outline copied). This should be built as light as possible

Here are the PDFs of the three planes. I should be able to post the dxf files soon, which can be opened by AutoCAD and sketchup

Here are some pictures of the Mirage 2000, with reinforcement to the prop slot, and without missles.

Built from 3mm Cellfoam 88 and has a 3 mm x 1 mm CF rod as a spar. The motor is a Feigao 1208436L with a 3x2 prop.

Currently has 2 2.5 g Blue Arrow servos installed and will use a 250 - 350 mAh lipo

Unfortunately after building the Mirage 2000, I had a little testing accident (prop/finger strike).

I moved onto the F-18C. I redesigned the original plans to mount the motor at the rear and to have a closed bottom fuselage. The updated plans are in the original post. The wingspan and other dimensions have not changed.

After cutting out the foam, I couldn't help but start building. Construction went pretty smoothly.

I wanted to experiment with full flying stabilitors on this model, so incorporated them. I used 0.042 push rods as the torque rods with the plastic sleeve as the bearing.

I am using 3.6g servos from hobbyking - http://hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store...idProduct=3715

Next I moved on to The fuselage parts and vertical stabilitors.

All went together with ease. I made a small motor mount and attached the C-10 motor, with the thrust line slightly above the wing surface.

Next is missile rails. These will either be from balsa or leftover plastic push rods sleeves.

I also want to experiment with a KFM2 airfoil on the F-18 after I maiden it.

F-18 looks good. Looking forward to seeing the F1.
