What glue to use?

I want to glue two pieces of rubber like material onto the back of my radio (where my hands grip) to improve my grip on the radio. The material that the rubber "mat" is being glued to (back of TX) is plastic .. what glue would be best for this job?

This "matting" is perforated so it is quite conceivable that if the glue is not applied in a very thin application it may well seep through the mat. A situation which I would obviously like to avoid.

Ok, let take this one step further ... what would the best glue in the event that I wanted to take this matting off at a later date? Something with the properties of say ... hot glue (sticks well, rubbery and would come of clean at a later date) would be great. The only trouble with hot glue is that it can't be applied as an even, consistant film which is what this application calls for.

Advice?

Thanks!

Colin.

I would use 3M Vinyl/Rubber Spray Adhesive. Here is a link to the information:

3M has a neat tool on their spray adhesives page that you imput the material for the 2 surfaces you wish to bond and they select thier recomended product for that application:

Try contact cement. It will adhere to both surfaces and is easy to remove and you can clean up overages on plastic by rubbing off the excess with your finger. I use it to glue down canopies on warbirds and windshields on other models. I think it would work the same as the spray on adhesives, but with a little more control.

Take a look at the various types of adhesives under the "Goop" brands.
