I can make beveled elevons, fins and a hatch all out of 6mm depron covered in 3mil clear laminate. very strong.it will bend but not snap in half. what do you think that's worth? $20 shipped ? $15 not covered?

I would be interested in a covered set... any pics of a set you have made for yourself?

No pics right now. I sold the planes they were on. I'm making some to sell. I'll post some pics of them when I get them done.

Stryker lite parts

Here are the parts I'm selling. They 6mm depron covered in clear .3mm laminate.
The elevons are two inch with with a 45 bevel on one side cut on a micro table saw. Just trim the ends to fit elevon slots. You can use any kind of paint on the covering and it sticks well.
The fins are close to original but do not curve around the bottom like the stock ones. The fin channel needs about 1/8th inch trimed off of one side so the fins will fit in. Hot glue sticks great to the covering. tape the elevons on.
I use two small sticks in front and back just below the hatch opening to secure the hatch on using small rubberbans to hold it down or you could use magnets. Total weight of all the parts covered is 37.3 grams $15 shipped for bare depron or covered $20. includes what is in the photo. paypal doakb@tx.rr.com

Those look nice!

I'm gonna fly my newly rebuilt "heavy" Stryker in the next day or two. It's been almost a year since I've flown a Stryker that weighed more that 12oz. or went more than 30 MPH. I hope I remember how to fly the fast one. Wish me luck.

Lammergier,
Order placed for 2 sets covered.
Thanks for making these.

Just trim the ends to fit elevon slots.

I'm not clear on what this means.

Should the elevons have the outside corners angled off or leave them squared?

The elevons he made are rectangular. When you hold them in place against the back of the wing, you'll see that you need to cut the inboard ends to align with the fin slot and the outboard end to align with the wing tip. They will end up being a parallelogram shape like below:

I left the elevons square and longer than they need to be so you can trim them to fit as shown in the post above. That way you can either trim the outer end square or angled whichever you prefer.

Ok, I get it now that I'm looking at my 2 Strykers.
I have a 2836 3200kv 3s and a 2836 2350kv 4s I fly now. All stock parts and they float amazingly well. I have 3 full Stryker parts kits here now ready to build.
Stryker Lite is going to be fun.
Thanks to Lammergier and his depron kits, I can jump in the game too.

I'm leaning toward a 2730 1700kv (28g) for this one.
A friend has a Emax 2805 2800kv (25g) on his Hyperflea and that thing screams on 2s.
So I'm curious about an Emax 2812 1600kv (39g) on 3s.
Pretty confused on which path to take.
Can the 2730 (or the Blue Wonder) run 3s?

The motor needs to be even with the fuse correct and not above it any? Is that pretty agreed upon?

I'm in the process of re-reading this thread and taking notes.
This is one of the best threads here for one of the best flying planes available.
Thanks to everyone for their contributions.

If everyone else only knew what they were missing...

Excuse me while I trim some intakes off

I run my Blue Wonder on a 850mah 3s

you want to aligned the motor to the bottom of the fuse (the bottom is flat)

light stryker story of the week....
so I go to an indoor fly we host... I wanted to see how slow it really could fly... it flew great in the large gym we use... it was still light out so I went outside to run out the battery and also show a flew guys how well it flys outdoors... I throw it up did a few barrel roll... a couple fly byes slow and fast.... I take it up a bit to show how well it flys inverted.... they seem impressed... then I see something fall from the plane while inverted... I realize its my battery... I try to roll the plane back over... im like duh!!... there is no battery so there no control at all... I watch the plane fall inverted..... uummm.... LIKE A LEAF!! to the ground.... not even a scratch!!.... bad news is I never did find the battery man I love this F'ing plane

Been there, done that.
Found the battery about 50' from where the plane landed inverted.
No damage. Battery works great.

I run the 1700kv Blue Wonder on 3S on my light Stryker (<12 oz.) with a 7 x 3.5 prop. I also have a middleweight Stryker (~17 oz.) with the E max 2812 and 7 x 6 prop. That motor provides outstanding performance if you want more thrust for a bit of weight penalty.

Thanks guys,
Still undecided on motor choice.
Might have to go ahead and set 2 up.

What can be done to better secure the batteries?

rchank,
What are the 2 different size esc's you're using with those motors?
I'm thinking if the plane goes from 12 to 13.5 oz to run the Emax, I may just go that way.
Tough decision. Stay at 12 or creep up for power.
