high lift airfoil

i will be entering a heavy lift challenge in 2010 with a group from university and we are currently trying to find a suitable airfoil to use. We are limited to the airfoils on compufoil 3D and as far as my research tells me, the eppler 214 is going to be the best one for producing the most lift. If anyone knows better could they let me know?

thanks. joe.

Some more details if they're needed to choose an appropriate airfoil:
wing span: around 190mm
engine: 6.47cc

any suggestions would be appreciated

If you're looking for high lift then the S1223 designed by Selig is highly recommended. This foil was his answer to the dominant high lift foil that was used previously, the Wortman FX 63-137, which is still very good. The Eppler 214 is more for thermal sailplanes that use camber changing to get a wide performance range, it is not a real high Cl airfoil.

Good Luck with your project!

Hey J J B I would suggest you read, read and read again the famous AMO Smith paper on high lift aerodynamics.

I would also suggest you research the Custer Channel Wing, this seems like an ideal application.

Are you allowed to import coordinates into Compufoil?

Something like Chuch Hollinger CH10 or similar would be a good bet;
