V2 Design Complete


I had some very successful water flights yesterday with the new floats. I got some video, but youtube blocked the soundtrack so I'll redo it tonight.

I'm happy with the design right now and don't plan any changes soon. The final v2 plans are now in the first post. I'll update the control throws and the build pics tonight.

Great design

Like to build it, only have a E-flite 400 920kV / castle 35 ESC and 910mA 3S lipo or 1650mA 3S lipo setup available. Will the 100% fly on that?

You will probably want a slightly higher KV motor, the design of the plane limits you to a fairly small prop. The motor you have is designed to spin a large prop slowly. We are looking for a small prop fast here. I would think something in the 2200 KV range to start with. You could run more then that but that would seem a good starting point. Others will probably chime in with some other options as well.

Think this should deliver enough power to push the SEADART, problen might be the prop diameter.

Was afraid for that too, also have an ALIGN 400LF, but the biggest recommended prop would be 4.5 x 4 or 5 x 3 delivering between 450 and 515 Thrush, but as you know that motor was designed for a 400 heli.

Hi Pat, like Rob said, this plane was specifically designed for a 6x4 prop. The slot is the limiting factor. Also, even if you could run your big prop it looks like your motor can deliver about 140W while I think the 2212-06 gives about 250W.

Did not have the exact specs of your motor. M Align 400LF 2800kV delivers 290W with a 5 x 3 prop on 3S Lipo, might work for the 66% SEADART. Seems I need another motor for the 100% version.

I will try that combo, the Align has an internal cooling fan and my Tenergy 1600 is 20C rated. As soon I get home, I will start with the V2 Seadart. My building time at home is limited, but I can prepare the parts at home and do the rest in my truck, exept for the paint job of course. Will take a while before I get this ready. Just think that 1600 mA going to be on the low side for the job.
