Matt:

I just got one of those balancers that I found here in the classifieds. Problem is I think the thing is out of balace itself so it doesn't do me any good right now...

Thanks for the tips guys.

Got some more work done on the F-18 today. Will post more pics later tonight.

Received my new balalncer and what a difference in sensitivity. Fans that my old balancer showed balanced were not even close. I modified my new balancer to use the finger balancer as it was perfect size for fans. See pic

Add some triange stock and an additional back pc to the taileron bulkheads. The assemblies are sure to be up to the job now.

that tail section is looking nice and strong now...

Found out that my kit is in Oz, had expected it this morning, but looks like delivery tomorrow. Also received my struts today... they are a very nice piece of work.

Waiting for all the epoxy to dry. It takes a long time in the winter. In the summer in AZ 30 minute epoxy is cured in 10 minutes. Now it seems like forever.

Added a plywood triangle to straigten out and stiffen up the cockpit. This will get a small latch in the back when installed.

looking great matt. hey, i hope thats not a midi pro rotor. if so, it will be off balance statically, but when you run it, its smooth. i made that mistake with a HET rotor once. dynamically balanced is a whole differnt story. maybe its not a pro rotor, in which case...balance away! just thought id make sure.

Fan is in. Retracts are in. Will bend new legs. Vert Stabs are temporary installed. Will start looking at where to put rx pack, rx, and 6S5000 battery to hit the specified CG. Hopefully it wont be long now.

Thanks for the heads up. Its the Midi fan clone that came with the plane. I balanced it since it had no signs of blue epoxy. Have a midifan ordered just in case this Midi clone does not work out.

Hey, I like working in front of the TV.

so... have you been happy with the quality/fit of all the bits so far Matt? The cockpit looks pretty cool... just needs a nice scale pilot to fit in there??

Balancer

Matt did you just drill out one of the bases to let the tubing go through? I have one of those balancers but I think the long shaft is out of balance. I also have the finger balancer so I think I'll try that.

Just drilled out one of the bases. The finger balancer mod is the way to go for fans.

Yes, the design and structure is excellent. There are a few small details that I would have changed but are miinor issues and more of convienence factor than anything. I will list them later when I get done.

Doing a little more work on the plane. Here are some shots of the retract install.

Not getting the time I thought to work on the plane.
