I've not glued mine in, and the blenderm tape has held them rock solid. I'm probably not throwing as hard as some, but it has taken a few *rough* landings in it's stride.

Mine are glued on with a thin layer of Goop, (obviously not removable for transport ) I didn't put any tape over the joint. It's held up to thousands of launches and more than a few bad landings.

Yes, I know it's upside down.
Thanks guys, looks like I can go either way, and I'll shoot Micheal an email to see if it was an omission. 5 gram servos work okay?

Make sure that your control surfaces move easily. You might need to bend them over and gently sand on the inside of the foam hinge if it is too thick.

If the hinge is too thick, the surface does not want to move easily. The control surface also will want to twist as it moves, so that it deflects more where the control horn connects than it does on the outside edge. Since it does not take much movement to make this plane turn that might not be a bad thing, but it will be hard on your servos and one side might twist more than the other.

Another thing when it comes to servos and control surfaces: To get as much leverage as possible, set up the controlhorns and servohorns to obtain mechanically as much throw as you need, but not (much) more. Eg. if you need 10mm throw, set up your link to get 10mm throw with the servo at (near) 100% deflection. If you instead set your links to obtain max 20mm, and then electronically limit it to 10mm, you end up with the same throw but less torque. Using long servo horns and/or short control horns gives large throws, but requires more torque, meaning that the servo works harder.

Setting up heaps of throw mechanically, and then adjust down on the transmitter may be convenient, but doesn't utilize the servos optimally.

hey actually I had my daughter do it. I bought some wide tip permanent markers from a local art store.

I'm just waiting for the 1/3aa battery pack from a place in northern CA.

they sell two for 9.99. they are 300mah

my hitec 2.4g RX was a little long, and I had to dig out some extra foam to get it to set down into the rx slot. Where I fly there are a lot of hawks. Hope I dont get attacked!

Believe it or not, as soon as I saw your photo, I decided to hand mine over to my daughter who is also quite handy with her art work, LOL.

Let us know how it goes. Hawks can be kind of territorial

There's a couple where I fly. They just don't seem to be able to do a loop as tight as I can.
