Richardson (TX) All Electric Fun Fly 4/11/2010

I am pleased to announce a new electric fun fly in the DFW area: The Richardson All Electric Fun Fly will be held at the club field near Lucas TX (GPS 33.107 96.521 ) in Bratonia Park on Sunday April 11th 2010. Note the date change

Several major improvements at the field include 110vac electric power along with a high amp stable 12vdc source, making it very "electric friendly". I am still working on the details, but right now I have the following ideas:
  • Lots of open flying
  • Food/drink (Pilots eat free)
  • Raffle (pilots get a free ticket)
  • Lots of open flying
  • A couple of casual events
  • Some awards (not a competition)
  • Lots of happy people
  • Did I say lots of open flying?

Let me know how that sounds. I hope to see you there and that you have a great time. I'd like to grow this into a two-day event so we have major spring and fall events in DFW.

Hey Ed, if you open registration at 6 am, you can get in a couple of more sessions of Open Flying (tongue in cheek, but there are some folks that would be there).

Ron,

Let me check the field regulations ... I seem to recall that there is some time limit on ENGINE starting, but that may not apply since we use MOTORS

Don't know Ed, some of these so called "Park Flyers" scream louder than my old control line speed jobs and those did not have mufflers.

All joking aside, good to see another event in the spring.

Date Change

Due to an event conflict within 100 miles, we are shifting the date to Sunday the 11th April.

While there are people that can't make a Sunday event there are also alot of people that can and even a few that can't do Saturdays. The times that I've done events on Sunday I've been pleasantly surprised by the attendance. One day events seem to do ok on Sunday. With multiday events people are more eager to go home.

Nothing definitive on the schedule yet, but we will probably start registration and flying around 8:00 and wrap up before dark. If you are interested in night flying, please let me know and I will take it up with the club.
