Honesty id like to know who is running legal radio gear...
From my understanding there is NO legal units (one which contains acma approval) available for australia.

No 10mw TX's carry the c-tick (cept for Mongrel's which JUST happen)
There is no 5.8ghz TX's which are under the 25mw australian rule.
You cant use the ATV 12xxMhz band for mobile operations....

Id say most people run 900mhz @ 500mw & 2.4ghz @ 500mw

Need someone to design some hopping digital video transmitters for under $200
Im not holding my breath!

Onto a more exciting subject...
Who is up for a little SE QLD meet & greet?
Just at a nice big park somewhere or even a field in the middle of nowhere.

Would be nice to see 10 people or more turn up with their FPV gear...
I can wrassel up probably 4 guys from Bris...
lets make this happen!

Who is up for a legal long range FPV rig in Australia?

How many of you guys would buy a 915 - 925MHz FHSS version of the EZUHF system?

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...&postcount=162

If there is enough of us we should hassle him to bring it out.
What do you think??
I want one!

Cheers,

Scott

Just as long as you understand it is not legal!!

We are so stuffed up for anything long range in this country!! GRR!!! We are limited to only 10mW in 2.4G for video, or 2.4G or 36M for RC control.

So in order to really take advantage of long range FPV, your only choice is to do it illegally.

Even the 433Mhz systems like the LRS are not allowed!!

Bloody Government!!

Really?
(I am assuming that we all are staying within line of sight etc…)
I had a team in the 2009 Outback UAV challenge. (who were very strict on all the laws).
We used a 2.4 GHZ 1W video transmitter with an on OSD (I wouldn’t do this in a populated area) which in the eyes of the ACMA falls into the category of telemetry / telecommand. (Section 26 of the Class licence) and a 1W 900MHZ data modem which we also used for telemetry and control of the plane. (section 52 of the class licence) This was all fine with the ACMA, CASA and technical judges of the comp as it was all legal.

As far a spectrum compliance goes it is all legal. Is there another body that does not allow 900MHZ data to control a plane /UAV? (excluding the MAAA) I don’t fly at MAAA fields. (Cant do UAV’s there!)
Thanks Mongrel

Cheers

Hi Mongrel,
Yes, this is what I am refering to.
Item 26 = Video 2.4 GHz 1W (with OSD)
Item 52 = Data Modem 915 - 928 MHZ FHSS (ISM Band)
It is all legal.

I guess what I'm saying is that if I go out on a farm or big piece of land some where away from the city,
and I have the land owners permission to fly my plane, and I stay with in line of sight () and below 400ft ().
I can't find any reason why I can't use this gear.

I wouldn't use the 1W video in a built up area, If everybody started doing that I bet they would change the laws fast!

I think an EZHUF 915-918 (if it comes out) would be the same as this in classification. http://www.digi.com/products/wireles...e.jsp#overview
We used 2 of these on our UAV last year.

Cheers!

Scott

Hmm... I suppose we need to find out what "Telecommand or telemetry transmitters" means - all conversations with ACMA for anything that transmits video is 2.4G at 10mW.

I will call my contact in ACMA tomorrow and ask I guess!!
