So the next time I attempt to fly her I'll pick a warmer day
Man that really stinks, very nice looking plane though. Have you ever noticed that you can be in a huge fairly soft area and when something goes wrong the plane is going to find the hardest spot to hit.
I hope your able to get her back together.

Too true, out of all the fluffy snow on 2 soccer fields it had to hit the pavement

Its already back together, stronger than before too, I'll have to have another crack at a maiden when its warmer

I think that could have been phrased differently

I was sorry to see it go into the pavement like that. I am looking forward to the re-maiden.

Glad you fixed it you might try keeping the battery in an inner pocket till you are ready to fly, that way you may not have to wait as long. Good luck

How's the CG did you do a test glide with the battery? Do a few test throws on to a soft area and see how she glides. I say that because it looks like the brick is too far back and she climbed straight up.

Thats a good idea, but I'll at least wait until the temperatures are in the + again

Thanks for the advice, but, the CGs pretty good; motor, esc, battery and servos are forwards of the CG line (40%). I think that its slightly nose heavy though, in the video you can see that the nose tips down when it looses power and it climbed straight up because thats how I threw it. Before flying it I threw it at my bed a couple of times and the CG seemed ok, but slightly forwards. I want to set it further back once I get used to it because I want some 3D out of it. Besides the AS3X should keep it level even if the CGs a bit off.

Cessna radio and motor for $8.87

It's not the 6400, but Hopmeup has the Horizon Cessna fuselage with the radio (3 channel DSM (not DSM2) and motor for $8.87 and $7.70 shipping. Shipping for additional units is only $.77. So, you can get 5 3-channel radios with motors for about $50. Good thing I didn't throw away my transmitter. In fact, I have a second with the elevon mod for flying wings. You will find this bargain on ebay.

we get the same problems here ..our hall is unheated and when the temp is below freezing the tiny batteries are useless if not kept warm.... Ive taken to carrying mine inside my zip up outer layers..
Its funny because the TX is freezing, but it still has enough power to work fine... it must be down to lower demands on its battery I suppose
at -7 youve got it worse...

vaguely remembering from school ,the rate of a chemical reaction halves for every 10 degree drop...so those poor batteries are down 30 degrees from an indoor value.. no wonder they dont go well...

This is what I do at our club's annual snow-fly. Batteries in a pocket to keep them at body temp until flight time. Some have even made a tiny foam wrap for their batteries to insulate them in flight.
