The MPVR looks blocky when it renders the sky gradient.
The BR3002 DVR looks a bit washed and bleeds motion.
The JXD990 must be high compression because its ALL blurry.

Short clip from my JXD990 with DGS800 cam. 480 lines. Nice sunny day always makes it look better

Agree it's not the best quality. I'd give it a 6/10.
But I still like the unit - perfect for setting up at teh field and a usefull backup recorder. It's quite usefull if you just fly of fatsharks - I take avout from that into the recorder in my pocket. Lightweight and simple. That's how I took the video below.

Some of the HDD recorders are better, but for now minidv is the only way for 10/10.
Unless anyone can advise a cheap HDD solution that records uncompressed! I think it would be well known on the forum by now if anyone had.

My criteria is REAL-TIME ZERO LAG Video IN/OUT Encoding. My EVG990 goggles go to blue screen if there is any NTSC signal interruption.

Records through static fine.
I'm not sure if it outputs when it records. Unfortunately I don't think I have cable to test that.
Personally I would use a splitter in that case if I were you.
Oh, I'm also a PAL user.

The washed out colors have nothing to do with the recorder.
That's about the camera (RCV922) and the difficult lighting (was having to expose for
deep shadow most of the time), and the fact that there is no color to speak
of that time of year when all the grass is dead.
I have many videos with more saturated colors.

What do you mean by "bleeds motion"?
If you're talking about smearing during high motion (particularly panning)
that's due to the need to re-compress the vid down to a "reasonable" size
for web upload. Original vid was recorded at 8-12Mbit/s. The high Q file
I uploaded was only 2-2.5Mbit/s and Vimeo re-compresses even further.
Look at any of my more recent vids on Vimeo to see it uploaded
at 3-3.5Mbit/s. Like this one.. Different camera, uploaded at 3.4Mbit/s, very high motion.

If you look on Aiptek's website you'll see that the +CB goes by *many* different

I just picked up a Plus CB version for $105 - not sure how good a deal that is.

Any model # suggestions? I can't seem to find anything with composite video input, all have firewire input and that means having go add CANOPUS device...

KS638 uses the same video encoder chip (Zoran) as Nikon L18 camera,
record quality good even at low bitrate and whatever SD or multimedia cards I put in:

Israel,Haifa Bay,Hof Shemen - RC flying wing onboard video (6 min 56 sec)

Very impressive 100 player! Is that recorder/player receiving 2.4G signal from your wing directly?!
If so:
1. What kind of range do you get?
2. What is the maximum record time at Highest Bitrate/Quality setting.
3. What is the largest memory card unit accepts? 2,4,8,16,32gb

I think 2GB is the limit, will record 1hour
the built-in 2.4GHz receiver/antenna useless past 300m
sometimes I put the recorder onboard, other times it's velcroed to wristband and connected to external AWM635 receiver.
For $98 it was OK recorder, beware of similar looking KS639 which is worthless.

I just ordered the Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder from Amazon for $60US
640x480 30fps (1hour per gig at 2048kbps)

I just couldn't pass up something so small with Video Pass Through for goggles.
I'll post my review and finding of the unit within the next week.
