No, it's in the menus somewhere. Keep digging.

Thanks Ian. I think I found it, 'quality' can be 'high, medium, or low'. I already had it set to high, but I'm not totally happy with it. Now that I've got all the other issues sorted out, I'm beginning to nit-pick the quality. Always something to improve Maybe time to move to a DVR-Japan...

I never had any problem with the quality of that recorder. It has a very high bitrate.
It does chop the edges down a bit though.

Not even close (by more than a full order of magnitude).
The minimum for good quality analog/over the air (includes noise) digital recordings to MPEG4
is about 5Mbit/s. The FPV-Japan and clones of it run 8Mbit/s. The Baru 3002 recorder
shown a couple posts pack does anywhere from 8-20Mbit/s depending on motion and noise.

Any idea why I'm only getting 128kbps? As I mentioned, this is on 'high' quality.
I appreciate your help Ian.

Japan DVR uploads

Doug, Dameon, I tried both suggestions to find out how to upload files from the Japan DVR, but no luck yet. The instructions allowed me to connect the usb and I got my computer to say the "Zokod DVR USB Device software was installed" It then said it was searching for the Zokod Device Driver, but apparently never found one. I went to the Zokod website, but it was all in Chinese so I didn't download anything.

Then I plugged the SD card directly into the computer and uploaded the file using windows. I can see the AVI file but when I try to play it all I get are wispy greens and blues. My computer apparently thinks it is an audio file. I have uploaded and played AVI video files successfully from other recorders. Any idea why I can't see this one.

Thanks for your suggestions

I have used one for the last 2 or 3 flying sessions, no issues so far.
Quality is pretty good, easycap with laptop is still way better quality, but easycap/laptop is a PITA to setup for a flight.

Also, I haven't got the vid out on DVR to work with my sunsky 9.5" monitor, seems the monitor is a bit picky with different cables, but ive hooked DVR to my tv just fine. I have been activating record with remote, and just hoping it starts recording, I've been lucky so far

The funny waves in the video are due to a switching regulator in my GS, once connected directly to battery its normal.

Install VLC Media Player and use that to play the files. To access them with other some other video
applications install the FFDShow codec pack.

Can anyone recommend a simple video editor for windows? Something like simple like windows movie maker, but faster than that with more output options besides wmv.

Thanks.
