If you're in the UK, you can get the Emprex-ME1 from ebuyer:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/247811

edit I didn't buy one because I didn't like the form factor and I don't need super quality ground recordings, because I have onboard HD.

The customer reviews on amazon don't say many good things about it TBH. alot of people moaning about the remote. Poor menu design. Lockups and freezing. Id steer clear. I may have to cave and shell out for the piano recorder :P.

If money were no object. What are the better recorders?
Today I had two good FPV flights. I was using my Archos and the first flight recorded OK.
When I went to start for the second flight I got the message ' Error files corrupt' So I could not record use this. I then bought my backup recorder into use, a Digilife DDV-1080HD. Now this one stops recording with the slightest bit of static. I had my 'spotter' check that it was still recording when I had any static and if it had stopped, he would start it again.
This flight was one to remember as I got a nice thermal and got to 1100ft plus going up at 7ft a second. (Flying an Easystar). Do you think I got a recording. I did but when I viewed it, it has gone into a split screen. bottom on top and top on bottom with loads of horzontal lines. Not one to show on the threads.
"Thats it". I am thinking. So guys what recorder works? I have been following this thread and from what I have read lately it seems that they all have faults.

Yep. PV-500ECO or PV-1000 are expensive but hard to beat.
Add up all the "junk" recorders that people go through and half the folks
here could afford a Lawmate by now.

So of the 3 Lawmate 500's the ECO would be the one you would recommend?

True but then at least one could resell the crappy recorders on ebay and recover some of the value. I refuse to pay as much for a recorder as I did for my netbook.

If you can afford an EVO I would buy that instead since its got a touch screen which can be used instead of the remote (which I don't like). However once you've got the settings dialed the remote isn't really needed. The DVR can start/stop recording using a REC-button.

I don't like remotes either, but it looks like the ECO has a one touch Record/Stop
slider control on its top that'd be all you need most of the time. Perhaps someone
with an ECO can chime in as to whether it works as expected. My PV-1000 has
full dedicated controls on the unit itself, so I can stop and start recording without
even looking at it (and often do, to cut up long flights).

Those Lawmates are expensive, I can get a netbook or another laptop for less. Which would certainly do the job. I already have a video grabber if needed.
