New Great Planes Electrifly VFO

Hey guys, you may have seen these buzzing around at JR indoor, and now they're finally almost here! This fun little plane definitely isn't your everyday indoor foamy. It was designed to take off and land vertically. This "Vertical Flying Object" makes hovering super easy, literally let go of the sticks and watch it stabilize itself. But that's definitely not all. Frank handed me the controls at JR Indoor festival a couple weeks ago and I had a blast with it. We flew battery after battery through the VFO and never ran out of new maneuvers to try.

They're due in stock at Tower Hobbies next week. Take a look!

Here's a video: http://video1.hobbico.com/gallery/gp...135-action.mpg

Mine's been on order since I got back from the JR Indoor Fest. Looking forward to getting it. At $35 this should be a real winner.

RJ, the web site is still showing late Nov - do you have some inside info?

Edit: Your link isn't working for me. Maybe this will work.

Uhh I guess so!!! Time flies when you're having fun. We'll be flying indoors again on Dec 6th, timing would be perfect for that.

Looks like, yet again, another plane designed for use with Futaba radios..

I don't even think a lot of the inexpensive computer radios out there can program quad ailerons and have 2 of them as elevons, and 2 of them as rudder..

Off the top of my head, it should only take a radio with 3 P-mixes and an Elevon mode. Most 7ch and up radios I can think of have this capability. However, if your radio didn't have that capability, you could always just set it up with the ailerons only on the elevons and the rudders be nothing but rudder. It wouldn't be as fun, but you could do it...

^Yeah, my point exactly, that wouldn't be much fun. I only have 2 p-mixes on my optic 6, so i couldn't really do it

The only aircraft Futaba radio that won't do the quad ail is the 6 ex. Anything higher than the 6 channel works no problem. You can fly it on the 6 just not with all four controls working as aileron.

You can fly it with a TX that has just elevon mixing in it. The other P-mixes are there to add a faster roll rate if desired. No need for upper end radios.

Do you have Elevon mix in your TX? Then you can do it, by using the 2 mixes from the ailerons to each of the rudders. That's what we've done.

I have read the online manual.... but I am still none the wiser... but as I only have elevons and 1 programmable mix on my Futaba 6xa..

Will this plane work properly with such a limited setup....Without the other 2 mixes, is it just the roll rate that suffers

maybe you could make it work with two v-tail mixers and a y-harness, http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6321
