Build Log

Dumas v-800 Vineyard

We'll I started cutting the wood today.... I am actually going to build 3 at the same time.

One will be the 25" kit from dumas and will be a static display.

for the other two the plans are getting enlarged and it will be a 1:12 scale functioning boat. 40" long

the kit is a replica of 1930's ere Sedan Cruiser Built by the Vineyard Shipyard in Milford DE. One of my family friends now owns the defunct shipyard and has purchased several boats for restoration.

I am not new to RC, I used to fly but my current real is RC sailing in 1/2 different classes from the diminutive footy to the 58" long ec12 class.

This will be my first power boat/scratch build...

I have already started bookmarking all the neat sites for hardware and such...

By all means, let us look over your shoulder as you proceed. The 40" version should be an ideally sized model for some interesting detailing. Good luck with them.

The Vinyard 40 is an attractive boat, and I recently acquired a set of drawings from somebody.

I plan to do it up in 1/16 scale, or 3/4" / ft., which will make it 30", plenty big enough---.

Somebody who sent you the plans might be interested in one of those 30" hulls.

A 30" f/g hull will be good; a 35-40" one would be 'more gooder.'

30" is something of a sweet spot in my book...

Schedule?

Can't wait to see this.

I recently picked this up and is now in Milford along with another roughly started started V-800 i got from a fellow RCGrouper, John Fryant, that will most likely be completed in the near future for display.

Here is what i believe could be the original Hinemoa that the plans were made from.

I borrowed some pics off this site to use to compare. I will upload all the pictures from ebay.
