Blast from the past classics

Was out today with my everyday hack a sailplanes international Mini Racer. FG fuz and foam wings. This one was built 20 years ago 1988/89 and apart from the fuz being filled and repainted a few times it is as orig. Mind you cog is so far back now there is no nose weight and a 5g weight in the tail, elevator movement(all flying) is down to 5mm each way and i had a ball today. Other pictures show where i was, nice local slope 200 feet of coastal cliff(250 when the tide is out, we have monster tides here.) wind was 20mph+ and square on the slope hours of fun(on my own as usual).
Thought i would start this after reading the Gryphon thread.

Hi Stevext it does look like it but the sea is a good 100m or so away from the edge , but the trees below the edge are up to 20 feet high and on a near vertical face so can be fun to get at, however i learnt to fly here 25+ years ago so im used to it

come on guys got any classics still flying.

Classic... That takes me back, even further back than 88 I think! Does it have ailerons that are much wider at the tips?

Thanks Doubletap for the high def photo; I can see the ailerons appear to be constant chord, my memory fails me I guess.

Doubletap, After watching you fly the Mini Racer I can see why it's one of your all time favorite slopers. That thing really performs.

A great looking sloper and a great looking slope. Looks like a perfect grass LZ, most of the slopes here in So. Cal. Are covered with rocks.

Here's another shot of my Mini; you can really see the ailerons. They are indeed constant chord and fairly wide also. My Mini rolls like a drill motor!

Glen, that's the last time I flew it; I haven't even finished the repairs from that bumpy landing on the dirt road.

Thanks Doubletap, that jogged my memory, this guy had modified it and he wasn't happy because it now slowed down with large aileron input, I could never afford such nice models back then.

We have certainly moved forwards in terms of performance but aesthetics? Think of the style of things like this, the Sitar or the Multiplex Flamingo. Perhaps dated but certainly stylish.

Nostalgia was better back then,
