Renown update

started covering the starbord side today....notched out the forms which made a great locator for the plywood and let the ply flow to where it needs to be.
get the other side done this week and the stern deck fixed on then i can turn her over and start to finish the hull bigtime.
time to get the prop shafts i think!!

all fixed decks glued down and both sides of ship up to the same point, access holes to cut out, waiting on prop shafts and props then the hull can be finished

After a day of should I shouldn't I, I finally took the plunge and removed 2 feet of the keel and replaced it.
My fault for not checking and double checking..anyway, two old computers on board holding her straight which work wonderful.
No pics today as it looks a mess right now!!!

although a pic would be funny i guess!!

Yep she is coming along great now, new pics later.
After the disaster of a poor plan and my rush to get it done, its nice to get back on track.
As i was cutting out the keel I laughed to myself its truly like the real thing, as Repulse and Renown where nicknamed Refit and Repair for the ammount of time they spent in the dockyards.....at least they got into the water before a major refit!!

Derek lest you get too discouraged. Probably the most famous U.S. Battleship of the last century, the Missouri ran aground on her maiden voyage! So a little tweaking before launch can't be that bad....

I have an U.S.S. Idaho (BB 42) in the works and have been debating if it would be easier to make the ribs with bulges on them and plank it that way for put the bulges on after (like they built the real ships). Still haven't decided yet.....
