I'm sure I'm jinxing it but Thurs looks like a great day to be at the butte quite early, experience a wide range of conditions as the wind slowly rises to 20+, go home in the early afternoon after the rain starts and eat your turkey....

Finally a day I can go. If the forecast holds up, I'll head down on Thursday. Friday looks like it might be decent as well?

Tuesday PB report

Strong winds, a bit gusty. Estimated 30mph (no wind meter).

No rain from 0930-1330 a few drops started to fall as I was leaving.

Flew 3 planes, only 1 needs some repair.

A lot of fun, but I actually prefer about 15mph as it is more pleasant soaring....

Amazing that it was not wetter there at PB. I am in Tualatin and it has been raining nonstop from 7am when I walked my daughter's dog until 2 PM when I went to get my car from the shop. Glad some one had a good day at PB.

What was REALLY amazing is that the weather prediction (MM5) was right-on. The weather prediction showed that PB was on the edge of all the rain coming in. I drove through HEAVY rain from Beaverton all the way to the rest stop on I5 just outside of Albany. Then, all of a sudden the rain stopped and I could see clearly to the south.... And it remained that way until about 1:30 when I was leaving.

For once the weather prediction matched reality!

How do you interpret the MM5 for PB? What does it say for the winds on Friday? Tomorrow looks like BS'ing all day long until the rain comes.

Turkey day

You guys missed watching me take apart my hang glider in 40 mph winds! Not so much fun!

RC-wise, there was about an hour of strong winds before the rain started. Before that, it was lightish, with some east in it. There will be better days to come. Beautiful sunny morning though!
