Eagle meets hang glider at Peterson Butte

I thought some of you Peterson fliers might enjoy this clip. I didn't intend for us to pass so close-- I don't want an eagle stuck in my wires or impacting my fragile tubing any more than I want a slick carbon RC sailplane to do so-- and was a little surprised he or she came back to linger longer....

full speed
Eagle meets hang glider (0 min 35 sec)

half speed
Eagle meets hang glider-- full length, 0.5 slow motion (1 min 10 sec)

shorter clip one-tenth speed
Eagle meets hang glider-- short clip-- .10 slow motion (0 min 30 sec)

We had beautiful conditions at PB on Saturday. The wind was blowing SSW all morning then picked up nicely around lunch time. It started to shift around 2 pm and then finally shifted WNW by 3:30 pm. so we packed up.
About 12-15 members of the Cascade Parasailing Club were also out enjoying the great wx and lift. We saw Steve there; but unfortunately he arrived a little too late for the good wind -- Sorry Steve! I do want to publicly thank you for everything you do preserve PB this as a great spot for soaring enthusiasts.

Cheers to all,

Vic

Vic: Glad you got some Oregon slope flying in there at PB. I am over due for that slope stuff. How was the road going up the back side of the hill? Is it fixed yet?

Good to see Steve back from South America, and also good to hear that there still are good days to be had at Peterson; April and May can be the best months there.

I'm heading up the hill in the old country with Dad right now. Air space is still closed but spring finally has arrived.

Wednesday April 28 was good

Today was great at PB. Had the place to myself. SW 12 or so with thermals adding to the gust factor.

Flew Zagi, ASH-25, and 60" slope racer. It was sweet!

I know TomFlyer engineered a solution to the bad spot in the road. Not sure if it's been repaired yet. We may need to organize a work party....

Yes, count me in for working as well. In the past there have been no shortage of volunteers for workers, only the property owners have simply not gotten the ball rolling. Hopefully this year will be the one.

road repair?

I noticed some time ago someone put sand in the break, not good. A culvert pipe is needed with crushed rock over. Someone needs to put out a flyer to get donations for the work.
