Goes in hot, comes out hotter.
I'm sure your boy will find his way back to R/C eventually. I flew from age 11 to 15, was an MAAA instructor and raced in state pylon events etc.. took me about 10 years to get back into flying after senior year of highschool.

He's still keen, it's just he's keener on "other" things at the moment.

I have another son, 8, who doesn't mind a fly every now and again, but only his frog, he won't touch my other planes for fear of smashing them.

Slightly OT as it isn't slope flying, but here was his first solo on his 7th B'day.

Alex goes solo (2 min 44 sec)

That thorn is owned by Mick AKA swoopdown, and yeah, it went 168 mph after zapping and fibre taping the broken piece back on. Here's a video of it. and yes, it WAS that close to the van at the end of the vid!!
It was such a gusty day, but Mick is a DS machine. There is a good reason he owns the aussie DS record of 278 mph with an opus nowdays.

The thorn is machined from a solid piece of timber btw

Swoopdown going 168 mph with the thorn (0 min 55 sec)

I just love the pics with the wildlife joining in.. so I thought I'd throw my 2 cents worth in.

We have a very "friendly" wedge tailed eagle at out westerly slope.
She is a beautiful creature.. but is starting to get a little too friendly.
It's ok when she goes for the planes (well not really ok).. but she has now swooped people as they are setting up their planes on the ground.
Not a fun thing when you hear this big whoosh over your head and look up to see this big budgie zooming off.

Cheers

Hey Guys,

I am moving to Newcastle next year and I am looking for some good slope sites. Can anyone help me out. Would be willing to drive 30min or so.

Cheers

Sorry there is no slopes within 30 min of Newcastle .

But there is plenty of BIG cliffs to fly from within 2 min of town and all the way down the coast. You will love it up there, good slopes and a bunch of really good guys to fly with.
