The OFFICIAL 'What makes it Official?' Thread

Seeing all these "OFFICIAL" threads here has me wondering:
What makes them "OFFICIAL"?
Are they guys that start them elected or something?
OR, are they representitives of the companies selling the kits (or ARFs)?
OR, are they simply self-appointed starters of "OFFICIAL" threads?

I guess I am being somewhat a rebel by posting some of my thoughts and experieces in UN Official threads.

Do you think Big Brother will seek me out, hunt me down, and punish me for posting in UN official threads?

OR, maybe by me starting this one: Big Brother will PARDON me.

Whadaya think?

I'm not sure on this but I think if it's a "OFFICIAL THREAD" about a product or service you are not allowed to say anything bad about said product or service or try and sell something else that is in computation with it on said thread or tell of a different place to get said product or service..

in my offical opinion is that only the manufacturer of the product can start a topic and label it official.
Other people who labels there topic official are just a bunch of arrogant pricks who want to be the focus of atention and controll what is discussed.

an official thread is a thread title LABELED APPROPRIATELY by whoever.
ie
"New Parkzone Ultra Micro ClownAir 2000" or "Just Released E-Flite Micro Flying Turd 2000"

not

"check out this new plane" , "I like this new product"

...the exact name of the product in the thread title with a "new product" icon
also, the thread starter should encompass pictures, videos, and details about the plane + product links in the very first post.

it would be nice for manufacturers to post up new products, but thats rare seeing as most of us comb through the internet to find these "leaked" new products. almost like a scavenger hunt.

I hope that the New Parkzone Ultra Micro ClownAir 2000 is better then the J.C Penny one was.

Oh, well then I better stay clear of those threads, 'cause NO product is perfect, and even the ones I like have SOMETHING which could be better, and if it aint right: I'm gonna say so.
To me, the purpose of these threads is open, and HONEST discussion, so that potential customers will be aware of a products highlights AND shortcomings.

And I'm with some of you others too: I doubt that all these "OFFICIAL" thread are started by distributor reps. Heck, some of them don't even know how to spell "OFFICIAL".
I suspect that at least some are a*** retentive, and enjoy that feeling of control they get when they declare their thread "OFFICIAL" (gee, I guess that means me too).

OK, maybe I'm a little slow, but I just noticed that there are at least THREE 'OFFICIAL' ParkZone Sukhoi threads.

One of them has the first page of posts devoted to an argument as to which thread was first.
In fact, someone went to go so far as to suggest a poll to determine which one should be the OFFICIAL OFFICIAL thread.
Of course, it never happened.
That would be too democratic.

As to what makes ANY of them "OFFICIAL": I have no idea. I don't think any of them were started by anybody having anything to to with the distribution of that product.

In other words, the only thing that makes them "OFFICIAL" is the fact that the authors proclaimed them to be so.

Yes, they are one-in-the-same who think English is the official language of the United States!

RD

PS: In a "Patriot's Test" going around the internet, this was one of the questions, concerning the official USA language. Correct response is: "There is NO official language in the US".
