I'm shopping for a new bike..not getting caught up in that mess, since I immediately add 50 unnecessary lbs to any bike I'm riding...

But that extra 10 grams the seatpost weighs will keep you from climbing like Lance. Weight(pun intended), that sounds like the ramblings on rcgroups sometimes.

Sweet! I'll meet you in Oklahoma after you get it! You going road or mtn.?

I can't remember how tall you are but I've got a 61cm Bianchi road bike that we could do some trading on (it's one of the last things that I need to sell off before I order a 103"). It's always been a little small for me but would be good for someone who's 6'1" to 6'3" depending on proportions.

Scott's hard at work on this one, and we're about the enter the final testing phase.

Currently, we're 72" span, almost that long, and configured for either 6-8S (or very light 10S) electric or DLE-30 gas engine. We're going to support a variety of exhaust options on the DLE, including stock, pitts (just rec'd the Jtec DLE-30 pitts mufflers yesterday - gorgeous parts), canister, or (with a little trimming) tuned pipes.

All of the expected goodness - carbon gear, tubes, tailwheel, the proprietary hardware from the 65-70" aircraft, genuine Ultracote is all included.

It's planned for Spring 2010 release, so there won't be much news for the next few months. During that time, we'll be busy with the 65" Vyper release and several other aircraft projects in development with both Scott and Andrew.
To add on a little bit to Ben's post, I'm really excited about this project. It is the perfect size to truly take advantage of the DLE 30 or other 6S-8S systems. I'm in love with this size airplane because it doesn't give up any performance to 50cc but I can fit three of them in the bed of my truck instead of just one 87 SHP or 89 Slick for those quick trips to the field. In the case of the other 70'ish 3DH airplanes, I feel comfortable flying them in pretty small areas which also makes them great for an open football field or similar sized site.

Anyway, with the 72 SC specifically targeting the DLE 30 I suspect it will be very popular using gas as well as the electric setups. Will be interesting to see what the ratios look like between gas, electric, and glow. Funny thing is just a year ago glow was the only good and inexpensive option to power airplanes in this size range.

Yea, and looking at the price drops in batteries the last 6 months I can't wait to see what it will cost to equip come spring time. Should definately give electric a boost by then for this size plane.

Given how cheap my HobbyKing Rhino 4S batteries are, it should be pretty affordable for me string 2 in series for 8S. Plus I use the same 4S battery in my 57" 330SC. So, that will give me twice as many flights on that airplane when I am not using the 72" 330SC.

You know.. if it doesn't have two wings, it's not a "real" airplane .

Well I figured it was just a matter of time before this thread popped up. Good job 3D-Dabbler! Should be an awesome plane to be sure.
