Ok, got some e-power system numbers. This info came straight from Lucien @ Innov8tive Designs who's always a great help.

These figures are on the S-4035-330 motor, 8s lipo, and 18x8 prop:

Amps 88

Watts 2534

RPM 8,550

Thrust 297 ounces (18 pounds 9 ounces)

Pitch Speed 65 MPH

What do you figure?? Will this work on the 72"??

Shawnlh & Ben,

What capacity batteries are you looking at for this setup? Do you think a pair of 4S 3700mAh will cut it or will it need a pair of 4000's or higher.

Either, 3700-4000 is appropriate.

why not bring the cost of packs down a little and go with a 6S setup?... next Kv up on the Scorp, larger prop... it will have major ass moving power. makes it easier to charge too.

6s and 2500 watts??? Your amps would be through the roof. After a flight you could cook supper on your power system.

Only in burst, but your point is taken. That said, I personally think that 1800-2000 watts is plenty on a 9-10 pound airplane.

Are you guys flying a prototype yet?

Also I was going to make this my first gas airplane, but now thinking maybe should do a 50cc... how will this compare to one of the current 3DHS 50cc airframes like the 87" Extra?

Mike
Mike,

We'll have more info soon on availability and testing. Honestly, the test cycle should be very short on this model as we know the aerodynamics work, and the internal structure is highly based on the existing 68-70 inch airplanes. I'm sure Ben will have more info soon. I know I'm excited about it!

my 65 Vyper was bursting that with a 19x8 ...reaper came down unhappy, the Scorpion wouldn't, the ICE was happy to burst up there (given it has the head room of 8S). The 19x8 has a date with the Scorpion on the Vyper, few things I need to get out of the way before I try that little bit of awesomeness.

9-10lbs?? COOL
I thought it would be heavier with it being gas and pipe ready. (You know, all those vibrations have to be dealt with, and the extra structure needed for pipe installs).
But if that's the AUW, fantastic.

Even if it is 11 pounds, it will be fantastic. It should roughly mirror the 70 Slick in weights. Again - more soon.

My question is will a Scorpion 4025-16 (332kv, almost 4 ounces lighter and $70 cheaper) work or will it be over-taxed on the 72SC? Thanks. Matt
