I really like the idea of the wrist-band mounted UHF tx and the nunchuck in your hand. It's a very simple, self-contained unit.

And one last question on the nunchuck-control. Obviously when you throw the plane you want the sticks to remain in neutral position despite of how your hand moves ... have you factored in that?
No wristbands! if your video not 2.4ghz use original wireless nunchucks

you have no idea how cool it can be,
how often do you see flying wing gyro on each axis ?
the receiver end has specialized chip to do elevon mixing and gyro reading, cause one chip is responsible for gyros and mixing there is absolutely no delay.
Meanwile I use gyro sensors extracted from esky 0704b HH gyros. I'm working on IMU based on Wii MotionPlus 3axis gyro+accelerometers extracted from nunchuck.

here is flying wing receiver with two gyros built-in

Nunchuck kits available

I just uploaded page were you can order Nunchuk conversion kit for $20 shipped. Takes me 10min to convert nunchuck into 9ch system (solder pre-programmed chip, buzzer connector) and there was 3 months of development and in field testing.

http://fmtv.us/wii_nunchuck_rc.html

Along with excellent ergonomics of Nunchuck you get 2D throtle control, expo on elevator and aileron, user presets, speed and intuitive control that needs no trained fingers
This is standard 20ms frame chip,

the UHF system I'm using is 4 times faster and requires special receiver capable of variable rate PPM.
if you use small craft or do crazy thing on simulator the difference is dramatical.

Two questions.

Could this work in parallel whit the head tracker 2?

Could i use the joystick on the nunchuk to control rudder and elevator? it would be a nice option.

Just a thought.

BTW have a futaba 7c.

the nunchuck works with my own headtracker (which is another desected nunchuck ) , I never owned other headtrackers. If you tell me how your tracker works I may come up with solution, Say you have PPM train of 10ch and want to replace channels 3 and 8 with PPM train from another source - that's easy. What's output of your headtracker ?

ps: will ship tomorrow!

Sounds great. no hurry hehe

The head tracker i use is the TrackR2,

Here is the manual if you have time,

http://hobbywireless.com/docs/TrackR2_manual.pdf

BTW could the nunchuk joystick be used to control rudder and elevator in some way. if not i would be a great option.

Regards Alex

FPV FTW
Just ordered the one with the chip already implanted. Looking forward to messing with it. I am Justin in case a bunch of people are ordering. I have a futaba 7c radio, but I want to get a set of those 2way radios you were describing and fit them in a wing.

Could the 2way radio design be used as an RX and video TX as an all in one unit? Would sure simplify the setup

Channels map:

x/y accelerometers - elev/ail, Z-button for 2s to hold position
x/y joystick: pull=throttle up, push=throttle down
left/right >> multifunction: rudder,throttle,channels 5,6,7,8

C short -reset to preset throttle, rudder on, also reset ch9 to zero
rapid C clicks:
x2 throttle offset set
x3 ch5 , x4ch6, x5 ch7

while rudder stick is switched push Z button to store channels/throttle into EEPROM , or push C button to exit setup.

Z-button held for 1s activates low rates (ail/elev only)
Z-button short - throttle cut-off

You can fly while in setup, ail/elev/throttle don't change function, to have rudder back momentarily push C-button

C-button for held for 1second ch9 50%, 2s ch9 100%

any button held while powering up sets reference for accelerometers,

If you don't have time to trim your model mechanically you can temporarily trim the controller: hold any button while powering up and tilt or move rudder stick a bit in same direction, for example if model yaw CW push rudder a bit CW while powering up so centerd position will have offset till next calibrate

I've tried to transmit AM and FM video using modified 5W Midland 2way radios but had no luck finding 10-20MHz wide channel in 420-470MHz range, dispite excellent hardware I had the system was unusable - to much RFI.
FRS voice channels are just 6khz wide and with such bandwith -120dbm sensivity is normal.
UHF just meant for compact long range comms.

my very 1st Nunchuck

While learning to fly small quad I realized that I have to use throttle a lot !
the quad was loosing altitude with every turn and was very twitchy. I just had to make my own remote to fly comfortable. Here is the picture of my 1st setup - the Nunchuck connected to original remote.
This nunchuck used original remote power and IR LEDs, nothing else - it outputs proper 38kHz modulated PPM.
The Nunchuck turned out to be the best remote so today I use nothing else.

So here is a question...

Can it have full proportional throttle control? Do you have the ability to fully control the throttle while you fly?
