First build Sig Riser 2M **update July 29th**

Hey all, i picked up a sig riser 2 meter the other day and its my first build. Im thinking of making this into a build thread. I plan on installing the spoilers and installing a brushless motor instead of keeping it pure.

Do it.

Go for it. Take and post pictures. Talk about it. That's what this is all about. Have fun!

Cheers,

You will like the Riser. Do put spoilers you will need them. I have a KDA 22-15 in mine and it's one of my favorite planes. Dave

I would definately like to see your progress.
Nothing better than seeing new wood go together.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Its been busy for me the past few days. So far all ive done is make by building board " two 1'x4' waffle board with 3/4" beaded foam glued on top" and for the build i started laying the base of the wing and got done gluing in the spruce base to lay the ribs. I will get some pictures tomorrow. As much as for the colors, im going to go with a white fuse, with trans. yellow and trans. purple for the wings. The spoilers will be white. For most of the gluing for this project im going to use wood glue. CA will be used as a liquid pin for some jobs, like when i start putting on the ribs and use yellow glue for the rest.

Having built this exact plane 2 years ago allow me to offer a couple of suggestions.

1. Reinforce the wing joiners with some .007 carbon. It will make the wing joints stronger. I have only evern seen wing failures at the wing joints on this plane. Mine has never failed with the reinforcements.

2. Think about setting up the spoilers with a small servo in each wing. It is much easier than the string and tube method spelled out in the plans.

3. Secure the control rods and multiple points as they go down the fuselage. If you don't you will get some flexing and your control surfaces will not be as accurate as they could be.

4. When you place the control rods in the fuselage have them run along the sides not down the middle. By running them down the sides this leaves you lots of room under the wing for ballast for those windy days.

I am still flying my Riser 2M and still loving it. I am certain you will enjoy yours.

Its been quite some time since i had time to build. My class schedule got uber heavy so the build was put off. Now that I graduated, time is somthing i once again have.

I will post some pics tonight of what i have done so far. The wings are almost complete and i started the fuse.

Hi Zack!
I remember the first Hand toss for Wayne, I forgot how this puppy just goes and goes!
it was an 81 pace first 'test' launch, very flat slope to the glide! I think I have to find one myself!
Your gonna love it!

It has been a very enjoyable build so far. The only major "oops" i had so far is when I put the dihedral in, one side has more then the other due to i measured the wrong spot. If i remember right from a few months ago, it was .25 to .5 inch off... not happy about that.

That's certainly not worth putting too much worry into! worst case scenario, is a bit of thermal 'leaning'

If needed, i can always add a small amount of weight in the wingtip if needed
