Yeah, that's why I went with 16mm (~15.5mm). IIRC, I wasn't getting enough collective with the ZYX recommended 14 - 14.5mm. Also, when I was using the TGY 930 servos, at 14.5mm the link ball would hit the servo case very early in the throw. I've just stuck with 16mm from then on.

I'm having a really dumb day today.. search for a 500Cf manual when I alrewady have one... it the manaul I build me 500Fb with!!!

What got me was I didnt know that the servo ball lengths were the same between FB & FBL.

Now I'm wondering what my actual pitch angles are. I'll have to check again. They fly well, but I set travels up once using a pitch gauge, make sure nothing is binding, then forget about it if it works well.

I just put a set of Pro tail grips part # H50119B and I'm having a weird problem. When the slider moves all the way toward the tailbox it's possible for the pitch control links to turn inside out and lock the slider. This is being caused by the arms on the grips being 1mm shorter than the arms on the ESP grips. Is this normal for the Pro grips or is it just a problem with using the Pro grips on an ESP tail?

I had the same thing on my 450, with a longer than standard tail rotor shaft. Since it's in the direction with main rotor torque, just set the gyro right limit to prevent the links going over centre. You don't need that much right pitch unless you really want to equalise piro speed in autos....

Figured out the problem, the 500 Pro links that came with the slider are a few mm shorter than the ESP links. Switched the links and it's fine now. Shorter links didn't cause problems on the ESP tail grips but the combination of slightly shorter links and slightly shorter pitch control arms on the Pro grips stacked up and caused it to be able to lock.

Anyway, all I need now is a tailcase and I can build a second 500 out of leftover parts.

Had a blast flying my 500esp like I do on the sim today. Finally started inverted circuits and inverted piros etc. I was in the middle of an on axis roll when bam........the tip weight blew out of one of my blades. Second time this has happened with a set of Target Hobbies carbon blades. I have the HB3650 1700Kv motor on 6s with a 13t pinion. idle up 1 throttle curve is 95,90,90,90,95. I think the YEP80 esc is looking at anything 90 and above is =100 throttle. I notice an rpm increase from 85-90 when going from normal to idle up at mid stick. My first 500 build guys so please don't kill me. What should I be shooting for in regards to head speed for great power in 3d? I'm think I should just lower idle up across the board by 5% or lower mid stick only by 5%.
