Just a thought. I have a 500 GT flybarred which is flying very successfully. If you do decide to go back to a flybar, treat yourself to a set of these http://www.myrcmodel.com/index.php?m...inm9qek0k0dcl5 These replace the original HK links, but are fixed length, rather than adjustable. I have a set on mine, and they make setting up sooooooo much easier. Hope this helps Good luck Border Lord |

So you just put those links on the head and no adjustments necessary?

Haha...not quite. Just then the only links you can adjust are the long two from swash to mixing levers. Cuts down on all the variables, but can limit adjustability for blade tracking. I just set the shorter adjustable links dead-on exactly the same and as per the manual, and leave them alone. Maybe you'll need a half turn on one for tracking, if it's more than that, turn it back and use the long ones. Just how i do it.

Once set up correctly it'll fly much more comfortable than any flybarred helicopter will. At least, that's my opinion. Some people perhaps do not like the touchiness and some people prefer the drag characteristics of a flybar helicopter. I can totally respect that, but things like (a governor on your ESC and) a flybarless unit to really make a helicopter feel locked-in and steer the way you steer can totally be noticed once you do such upgrades. My FL helicopters can really fly hands-off on both throttle (governed) and cyclic and tail (flybarless unit). I guess what I'm trying to say is that the difference is very real and very noticeable. Even though it's mostly just different, not necessarily better but that depends on your own preferences. |

The body is one from eBay, it's the Funkey 50 version... It's a right PITA to fit to be honest, not like the 500 that was easy.. As it's designed for a 50 size and a 600 is about 2.5cm's shorter.. I didn't want to cut in to the tail for the rear gear box, so I extended the tail boom to a 700 size cut down and had to also custom make a new direct drive shaft, and all that just for 2.5cm.. Plus a few other body modifications... Now I have it flying, I will be adding scale detail over the coming months! |

I was thinking about one of the new MD500's from Aerodyne http://www.scaleflying.com/MD500-Red...ze_p_2415.html
I know! everyone has a MD500, but these just look sweet. I am still waiting for new blades to show to get my 500 back in the air. Once again I have stole parts from the CH-53. The fbl controller is now in a 250 |

What a awesome day I got I chance to give my truck a quick tune up w plugs, wires, cap, bla, bla,And Its still is missing? . To take a break I thought Id hover in the front yard for a bit. In my rush to close door behind me b/c of chickens being sweated by a cat I caught my DX6i in the door and smashed the sh*^ out of it! Broke the throttle hold switch and busted the antenna base breaking it off. S.O.B. I guess I will send it off to Horizon and see what happens.

The 500H motor has way too fast head speed with the supplied pinion. I would use an 11T from helidirect. It uses a lot of juice too, I sold it for $20 and got a Helium 500 motor from XHeli. I have 3 ea. 11T pinions for the Typhoon now.
The rest of the stuff is probably fine. I gave up on cheap tail servos and use a Futaba S9257. Maybe someone can say that HK or Power HD servo is fine. |
