Both transmitters require charged batteries. As soon as the trainer cord plug is connected to a radio it turns on but only the stick encoder is powered. The RF part of it is not. Because of this the power switch on the master (instructor) transmitter has to be turned on. The student transmitter power switch must be in the off position.
